It is less than twenty years since a Dem president swept to power with huge majorities during an economic crisis, and within two years everyone got mad and blamed the crisis on him and his party was massacred in the midterms. But I’m sure an *even bigger crisis* would have been fine

After Pritzker and Newsom threatened to leave the NGA, the Republican Chair breaks with Trump. Pressure works. Keep it up!

“Oklahomans would lose their mind if Pritzker in Illinois sent troops down to Oklahoma during the Biden administration.”

The Republican chair of the National Governors Association breaks with Trump.

I do love that we're doing literally this with Piker
Britta Perry from the TV show Community saying "I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty"

One reason why I strongly doubt JD Vance has the juice for a Presidential bid is because even Chuck Schumer is scoring off him.

Someone like JD Vance, who has been on the receiving end of a lot of insinuations, should know to couch his language more carefully.

Anyways, I’ll be here, ready to make a deal to save Americans’ health care and reopen the federal government that Republicans shut down.
A headline from the New York Post reads: “JD Vance calls Chuck Schumer ‘one of the most famous Palestinians’”

"This Nazi is saying Jewish money controls America and I have to say he's making sense" is a choice you actively make, Mehdi Hasan, and hanging a lampshade on it just makes it worse

Bernie Sanders straight up calling a rape victim who dared challenge him in a democratic election a loudmouthed bitch is one of those things that's so utterly heinous and indefensible it immediately makes people shut down because there's no way to spin it.
argellastone.bsky.social
Reminder that when he ran against Susan Sweetser for Congress, a victim of rape and women's rights activist, he said she lost because she was "too brassy, too bitchy, too loudmouthed".

I mean its very much in line with Bernie's world view: It's divisive when a qualified woman runs for office, she should stay home in the kitchen and let the unqualified men just have the job that their dick entitles them to.

Watch him follow up by saying he thinks she's too old to run.

What do you even say at this point.

At this rate Mitt Romney is going to head the DSA.

Average argument among internet liberals today: "listen, the strategy around the shutdown fight may not be ideologically suboptimal for you, but compromises are necessary"
Average argument among internet leftists today: "listen, he only tortured one dog"

It's not heavily edited at all. You can see the full interview with timestamps right here. She's the only candidate who repeatedly refused to answer the question and who blew up at and insulted the interviewer for daring to ask follow up questions.

None of the other men or women running for governor acted like this during the interview. It was just Porter. None of the other men or women running for governor have been recorded verbally abusing their staff, just Porter.

So many of you insist you’re not antisemitic while also making it extremely clear that you are only comfortable with Jews as a (barely) tolerated minority population who lives at the majority culture’s pleasure and it’s a lot to deal with

If Dems manage to use what was objectively *tiny* leverage to force Republicans into a humiliating public climb down, *and* save millions of poor people’s healthcare doing it, and your response is to yell about how they failed, I really don’t see how you aren’t just operating as a GOP outrider

Im sorry, but if you are seriously asking “Where is the evidence the authoritarianism attack doesn’t work with swing voters???” in 2025 then I am simply not going to bother taking anything you have to say seriously and there is really no point engaging

Porter was legitimately abusive to her staff, and we shouldn't sweep that under the rug.

This isn't about her gender, it's about her quality of character. Playing it off as being a gender issue undermines the fact she's well-known in OC circles for abuse, particularly toward those w/ less power.

That made my blood boil. And then when she lost, pulling the rigged rhetoric and refusing to endorse Schiff against the Republican? Just.. no. Said it before and I'll say it again, it's too much like Trump to me.

Tony Thurmond and Betty Yee both look pretty solid as well and I'd be happy with either of them, but Becerra's got an amazing amount of experience and he's been a rock star in every job he's had so far. I actually hoped he'd be Clinton's running mate back in 2016.
argellastone.bsky.social
The video leaked right after the interview, it's nuts.

She's setting the groundwork for a 2028 bid. But I'm ready for Becerra.
argellastone.bsky.social
This is the same thing that happened when she ran for Senate. She started off with a lead and name recognition, then she ran her campaign into the ground. She's just speedrunning it this time.

Throwing a temper tantrum over not being invited to the White House by Biden on top of it is a look.

I know that women are often unfairly judged harshly on their behavior. But I would not vote for a man who acted this petulant and incompetent either. She is not fit for duty.
