This walkable vitality is my neighborhood

Swap sugarcane w seasonal tobacco plants growing in tree wells& three sisters

Dominos on the corner, blinged out nails, music on the street, uptown ❤️

Just need some kids playing in hydrants
This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities.

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

🥶STAY WARM, NYC!🥶

NYC Emergency Management has issued an Extreme Cold Warning, in effect now through 1PM Sunday.

Real-feel temperatures are already below zero and wind chills will likely hit -20° to -30° tonight.

Stay inside if you can, check on your neighbors, and bundle up if you must go out.

Today in Richmond Hill, 75+ neighbors showed up to march and rally for a permanently car-free Freedom Dr. in Forest Park. Locals families, kids, older adults, runners, cyclists, and disability justice leaders shared why they need people-first park roads. @ny4p.bsky.social was happy to support.

Wow. While neighbors marched for safety, CM Joann Ariola chose to drive on Freedom Dr through the rally. Her message to families in the area and kids who attend school 2 blocks away? Their safety matters less than a 0.3 mile shortcut for a few. 🎥: Safer Streets Richmond Hilll

If you know this area— Kingsbridge near the proposed start of a new subway 12 line - you’ve seen the endless lines of people queuing up for the Bx9 and Bx12 bus. It has to traverse clogged streets with cars making it go walking speed or slower.

Hard to fathom why new DOT leadership isn't weeding out these regressive Adams-era decisions
A new set of DOT rules that govern Open Streets means that restaurants would likely only get to operate 29 days for the whole year—spring, summer, and fall.

"It's just very unfortunate and surprising."
New DOT Rules Would Decimate Open Streets Dining
Restaurants would get just 29 days to operate all year—though the Mamdani administration is promising to find a solution.

Our office has clients whose injuries were so severe that their treatment dramatically exceeded the $50k no fault limit, and were forced to go into medical debt to treat themselves.

As @kevinduggan.bsky.social points out, had that amount tracked inflation, it'd now be $329k.

Bx12 bus is THE vital east west link for The Bronx-its slow. ESP at its western terminus in Inwood—so half Bx12 (FordhamRd/207st)
Buses don’t connect thus don’t link the 1/A to the Bronx.
Bx9 (KingsbridgeRd/225st) are slow& over crowded and@end at GrandConcourse-
A subway expansion here would be 🧑‍🍳💋

Getting east to west in The Bronx is hard. Really there is only Fordham road that goes through (and the highway).

And the legit BIG hills make it a tough place to bike east west as well.

Such a line would be transformative
