Here mostly for politics. Lifelong #Democrat. Slava Ukraine! Refugee from the bird site. Thought they were sweet bluebirds then they turned into shrieking flying monkeys wearing Nazi helmets.

Ok thx - I missed it. It was his assertion that Dems were clueless that it would be popular that threw me.

Should the New York Times be sold to Pennysaver and its editors sent to work in Amazon warehouses? It depends on who you ask.

"The original #NoKings protest was 250 years ago. We've had democracy since then. Now we have a would-be king who wants to take it away—King Donald the First. Fuck that. Stand up and be counted in the nationwide No Kings protest on October 18."

NYT reports that Letitia James’s great niece lives in the home that is the subject of the indictment.

The niece reportedly testified before a *different* grand jury, telling them that she had lived there for many years without paying rent. James visits regularly.

But in June, IMs. Thompson testified to a grand
jury in Norfolk that she had lived in the house for years and that she did not pay rent, a person familiar with her testimony said. She was not asked to testify again, and the grand jury that voted to indict Ms. James was not seated in Norfolk, but in Alexandria.
The specter of Mr. Trump's revenge campaign has so far overshadowed the facts of the case, given how he has pushed for Ms. James's punishment. For years, he has railed against her on social media, calling her a "crook" and
"corrunt" Last month. he also appointed Ms. for a peaceful life after years of turbulence in several cities.
The family, Nakia Thompson and her children, have lived at the address ever since, according to two people familiar with the home, and until this week, the plan for a more lacid existence had largely gone as expected. Several times a year, the people said, a great-aunt who had purchased the house in 2020 with Ms.
Thompson in mind would come for an extended stay.
This week, with the filing of court papers some 200 miles north, the plan came to an abrupt end.

$47. And that’s if the government isn’t lying about the interest rate. Plus, they will have to prove she intentionally schemed to swindle $47 from the bank - as opposed to just not knowing the difference between a second home and an investment property. Good luck, Lindsay.

Those of us who served in the military know that dogs were some of the best partners we could ever wish for, and many were real heroes. For Kristi Noem's CBP agents to be shooting a family dog in this way -- and then leaving the scene -- is disgusting.

Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’

It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

The US never fought to end fascism anywhere. They joined the war because Japan forced their hand, and they saw a great way to make money. After the USSR pretty much had pushed Germany out of eastern Europe and they knew the nazis were going to lose, they jumped in.

Everyone whose father or grandfather served in WWII (like mine did) needs to send you a collective ‘fuck you.’

There’s nothing wrong with him wanting to get them paid.

(Dems sponsored a bill to do just that. And the GOP blocked it.)

Absolutely no reason to think he will applaud Trump for using illegal means to do it; nor for Trump falsely blaming Dems while he prevented an earlier solution.

This one will hit the red states especially hard. Blue state systems will for the most part work to ensure kids with special needs have access to public education. The red states will leave families to sort it for themselves.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

I’m sorry, but it’s actually kind of pathetic for people on the left to trip all over themselves to hand a victory to Trump at every turn. I’ve seen a ton at this announcement that Trump is going to pay the troops unconstitutionally, saying it’s a master stroke. Have some goddamn self respect.
paleofuture.bsky.social
I expect that “should the troops get paid” is something most Americans would support if you polled it without any context.

The average American doesn’t give a shit how something happens, they just want good things to happen, however they define that.

Elected Dems haven’t adjusted to that reality.
bathshebablue.bsky.social
One of his posts says Dems don’t understand that paying the troops is popular … never mentioning that Dems sponsored a bill to pay the troops — but the GOP promptly blocked it.
