I am dead serious when I say that if one of the most vulnerable people in the country can do this with the right allies, no fight in American politics is completely hopeless.

Congestion pricing seems like a great example of a policy where the effects are immediately legible to the public in a way that changes their views. Before, people were unsure; after, most people see the benefits and don't want to go back (see also smoking in bars).
Particulate pollution in the air down a whopping 22% in NYC’s congestion pricing zone.

Not only are the streets less congested, but so are our lungs.

How do you know when we've reached full employment? It's not a number, it's when any random nurse or forklift operator knows they can tell their racist, sexist boss to fuck off and they either won't lose their job or they'll walk right out and get a better one.
i want to be clear about this: worker’s rights also includes the right to be free from racist or sexist or gendered abuse at your job.

In case you ever needed proof that the Heritage Foundation is not a conservative organization, here we have them cheering on the Federal Government threatening to strip all funding from a state that does not make political decisions the President likes. Any true conservative would be howling.
The US government is now a mafia organization.

We have a system in which the public good (morals) can only be measured in prosperity (money).

If instead our goals *were* the moral imperitives, we could use money solely as a tool to serve them.

Thus budgets would not be investments that demand returns, but capacities which creates said returns.
"[I]f the only 'good' ethical practice is a localized, pre-coordinative generosity, then large monetary and bureaucratic systems tend to appear mainly as fields of power to be refused or escaped, rather than as terrains where more accountable forms of obligation might be designed."

And February was our THIRD time filing with the legislature, after intensive legislative process & negotiations throughout 2024.
Stunned by how dishonest senators like Senate President Karen Spilka and Senator Nick Collins are being about Mayor Michelle Wu's tax shift home rule petition.

It was filed in February. They ignored it. No right to complain that it's a brand new ask. #mapoli

Keep an eye out!

As AI winds down while VC money runs out, they're going to continue following the same failed playbook Web3 used. They'll redirect the focus from big money (companies, entrepreneurs) to marginalized communities.

Prepare to see AI re-spun as a tool to empower women/POC/LGBT.

The verse goes

Midst the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me
And as He died to make men Holy let us die to make men free
Our God goes marching on

And, like, honestly you wanna burn down Richmond all over again when you hear it!
"As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free," goes harder than any Civil War song has any right to go.

This is not the first time Flock has put cameras up after a city has told them to take the cameras down. This seems to be a new excuse, though. Appalling.
WAIT WHAT?

Camb. Police Commissioner Elow just said that after the cameras were allegedly off, Flock came back and put up two more cameras because they had a "work order" in the system and didn't see functional cameras, so put up more.

"Which we just found out about today."

Wow.

Disastrous and appalling. Trump invokes Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Frances Cabrini, the first Immigrant American saint, even as the administration’s ICE raids continue to assault immigrants.
Two things: Trump should be ashamed for trying to play Catholic identity politics when so many of his policies are directly counter to Catholic teaching. Second, someone should ask him whose Immaculate Conception the Feast Day is about. I guarantee you he doesn’t know.

This is exactly what the bosses who put Trump into office were trying to achieve. Crushing the tight labor market from the early Biden years that gave workers - for the first time in my adult lifetime - leverage over their bosses.
NEW

US labor market flows remained sluggish in October data released this morning, as hiring slowed to nearly the lowest level since early COVID

The hiring rate fell to 3.2%, layoffs rose to 1.2%, quits fell to 1.8%, and job openings rose to 4.6%

One theme here is the speed of American institutional collapse.
“It took Erdoğan 15 years to do what Trump did in 100 days. If [Americans] do not accept the fact that this is a long game, and it will be brutal, I think you won’t have the patience and stamina to bear it.”
