If the US can do whatever it wants to whomever it wants with no regard for human rights, the Geneva Convention, US law, the UCMJ, or international law, then we are no different than Vladimir Putin and Russia, who I suppose was the role model for Trump foreign policy doctrine.

Tienduizenden mensen zonder zorgverzekering krijgen vaak geen goede medische hulp als ze die nodig hebben, meldt de Inspectie Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd. Er zijn wel manieren om deze medische kosten te declareren, maar artsen en zorgverleners weten dat niet altijd.

This is all true but
1) under no definition are we currently at war with Venezuela under domestic US law
2) since we aren’t, the initial strike was just as much a murder as the follow up
The failure to understand this by a huge range of actors is really driving me up the wall.

If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.
If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

Nee @nieuws.nos.nl, de intimidatie en bedreigingen heeft niets te maken met de komst van asielzoekers. Het heeft te maken met uitlatingen van een opruiier die in de Tweede Kamer zit en continu door laat schemeren dat "het volk in verzet moet gaan" tegen onwelgevallige democratische besluiten.

@moviessilently.bsky.social I have a question that you can hopefully answer: I once saw a remastered film, I think from 1913-1920 (?) about the dream of a poor German boy to leave to the US. He writes with a philosopher, but nobody believes him. His younger brother leaves, so his dream crashes.

Universities are assembling larger and larger teams to deal with academic integrity issues--mostly focused on AI--while simultaneously holding AI "writing" contests, AI-themed events, "hey, come play with these fun tools!" The messages are so mixed, it's criminal. Because AI is bloated with money.

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.
