Our next book will be an anthology of the best-written federal resignation letters of 2025.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Genuine graphic design question: Which one of these two fliers handles the Smithsonian logo more elegantly?

WITH the blue "Smithsonian" label
-or-
WITHOUT the blue "Smithsonian" label

Even though you left, you still have agency. We are accepting resignation letters from these and other departments and agencies for possible publication in our upcoming anthology:

Education, State, Smithsonian, National Park Service, FDA, HHS, USDA

Anyone ever say to you when you're talking about banned books some version of, "Well if you want the book, just buy it!" The Freedom to Read Project broke down exactly why that argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny:
What the Library Is For and Why “Just Buy the Book” Gets It Exactly Backwards
Libraries exist to guarantee equal access to ideas; telling families to buy books themselves undermines equity, choice, trust, and opportunity.

the 80s had a high density of celebrities whose authenticity was hard to figure out, as a kid. like, was Mr. T a real guy? he was like that in shows/movies but also in interviews? or pee wee, elvira, max headroom, various wrestlers. even alf was on celebrity squares. it was a confusing time.

Defenceless under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.

We may be publishing a book of federal resignation letters, but we are also an employer. So this is career advice if nothing else:

This Monday is pretty much the last day you can list ICE or CBP on your résumé. Staying into February might make you radioactive for any other roles.

Just finished The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association by Caitlin Rozakis. This was a fun story about parents trying to navigate caring for their newly-werewolf daughter that balanced comedy & commentary pretty well but did have a bit of clunky writing. 4.25 stars.

So to recap, since Wednesday:

ICE sent a 5-year old out as bait, took his father, and then sent the 5-year old to one of the worst "detention centers" in the country.

They sent a TWO YEAR OLD to Texas.

Then they assassinated a man in broad daylight.

This is just off the top of my head.
