The news is a torrent of horrors. Glee in domination and crimes against humanity. Dystopian tech and financialization. Antihuman futurism. All championed by sociopaths and raw id. We should be calling for humanistic moral revival, whether religious or secular.

"the government should try, convict and then kill the secretary of defense for the crime he very obviously seems to have committed" seems like a radical thing to say, but -- no, it's not. it's the actual penalty for what pete hegseth, a man who ordered death squads to murder civilians, has done.

Good shit from Zohran, love to see it.
NEW: Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said Thursday he will not continue sweeps of homeless encampments — which city data shows have not yielded any permanent or supportive-housing referrals in more than a year.

The world's largest sail ship is the Neoliner Origin, which uses 2x 1500m^2 sails to cross the Atlantic. They're mounted on 76m tall masts that can tilt to go under bridges, and they let it cruise at 20 km/h without consuming fuel.
First voyage was 08/2025.

At first glance, a general strike sounds impossible—but a strategic look back at the coordinated strikes and militancy of the past two decades shows we might be much closer than we think, writes @alexhan.bsky.social, executive director of @inthesetimes.com labornotes.org/2025/12/mayb... 1/2

hey, do you like cyberpunk but want it to be, like...good?

are you sick of stories going, "Are machines...people???" for 90 minuets and want a movie that goes, "yes" 5 minutes in and then spends the rest of the runtime exploring actually interesting questions?

Do you like ECLIPSE PHASE?

You can leave a comment opposing the proposal, the government must acknowledge these comments. If enough people are against it, they won’t be able to change the ESA.

Here’s a guide for how to write effective comments and links to each piece of the proposal

America is extraordinarily radical in that there are tons of different ethnic groups here, and we not only generally get along with each other, but the law treats us all equal equally, and we all do the same shit like eat fried butter.

What MAGA dares to ask is: what if we didn’t
Anyway the best I've ever felt about America was me (Jewish) standing in line with my friend and her daughter (Irish and Latina) to pet a baby lamb at the Minnesota State Fair alongside a hijabi Black woman and her daughter, an East Asian family, an African-American family, and some white people.

During my PhD i kept coming across this number about the maximum grid penetration for renewables.

So, I started to dig. Tracing back what references I could. Never found a single analytical or empirical basis for it. It appeared to have sprung from thin air based on some engineers' intuition.
People used to say, with great confidence, that variable renewables could never safely provide more than 5% of grid power. That estimate has crept up ever since, though the "great confidence" part never wavers.

Anyway, about China ...
