Yeah Ton', it's me. The thing with Candace Owens? Didn't go as planned. But she thinks the French did it, so we're in the clear.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

This morning, the President of the United States publicly called for the execution of six Members of Congress.

Donald Trump must be removed from office. Today.

He is a clear & present danger to this country. Right now. Invoke the 25th Amendment, or impeach & convict him. Now.

In the last year, we've funded a classroom, gathered and distributed items to the unhoused, held a winter clothes drive, raised and donated funds for Thanksgiving dinner kits. We've shared resources, we've recruited candidates for local races, we've befriended and recruited transplants, we've drank.

The Times really does have great reporters & they want to defend their work. But their editors are indefensible, their leadership is indefensible, & as long as that's true, that reporting talent is going to waste. Might even suggest that's a subtext here: I'm not seeing defenses of the organization.
the key problem here is that the threshold for "publishable info" is a moving target and it moves to Trump's benefit
As a former member of NYT’s finance team & the co-author of this story exposing the relationship between Epstein & Bill Gates as well as one on Epstein & JPMorgan, I am really frustrated to see people claiming that NYT sat on publishable info about Trump and Epstein 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2019/10/12/b...

As a kid, you think "The people in charge are dummies! I could do so much better!"

Then you grow up, and think: Big world, complex problems, huge problems.

Then Epstein emails drop, and nope: A lot of elites are sub-literate, immoral screwups who come across as well, pretty dumb.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

The Olivia Nuzzi - RFK Jr. thing is comparatively very minor, but the “how dare you suggest journalists should follow basic ethics” wagon-circling looks like it stemmed from a deeper ethos.

Honestly the Epstein files kinda give an explanation as to why the (elite-led, because basement dwelling groypers didn't do jack shit) backlash against MeToo and "wokeness" was so intense and ultimately succesful.

We’ve built two justice systems in the US—one that bends over backward to shield the wealthy and powerful, and another that comes down hard and fast on the poor and marginalized. Trump and Epstein show that it’s easier to squeeze a rich man through the eye of a needle than to see one sent to prison.

It now has the 218 signatures necessary to start the clock that will, in a few weeks, trigger floor votes on the underlying bill to require release of the full Epstein files.
