This is exactly why complaints about players getting paid or transferring because of playing time were always laughable.

Ed programs are getting a lot of pressure and incentives to push ai into the curriculum. Some universities are caving fully, but some are being more strategic and critical (since ai is an important topic in education).

All education silver bullets fail. This one will fail bigger.

I really appreciate that @pbsnews.org ended the interview with this graphic.

It captures, in the simplest and starkest terms, the brutal arithmetic driving this country's homelessness catastrophe.

I get why academics & other professionals do this. We are taught to use relevant images to engage and communicate. It takes time.

But AI images also distract. Making viewers’ brains pause to consider overly smooth edges, weird anomalies, or uncanny-valley perfection instead of following ideas/data.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Personally, I think it's a bad thing when people in the government post AI images without disclosing that they're AI.

One of the big tidal forces of the coming years is that the baseline reliability of things you see on a screen is going to decline.

I think this has not been adequately metabolized.

This is one version, but there are a bunch of them.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

If you think this is wrong, look a the arts cuts in lower income schools over the last 20yrs vs wealthy areas and privates.
My hot take is that over the next 10 years, we're going to see more emphasis on and investment in the humanities at Ivy League and other fancy schools just as state schools and small privates continue to decimate and even eliminate the humanities.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe
