In this story, there is a lot of support for trans people that you rarely see covered in the media unless they're being attacked. Businesses and individuals all standing up and saying 'I will not be a part of this' and I think that needs to be highlighted because it can feel lonely out there.

Today’s High Court ruling found trans employees may be segregated in British changing rooms and toilets. I’ve written to my union, @actorsequity.bsky.social , to ask how we’ll be fighting to ensure govt guidance doesn’t permit that. British actors deserve dignity at work and that means *all* of us.
But devastatingly, this ruling also found that trans people may be expected to use a third toilet when at work. This risks outing them, violating their privacy, and is unworkable for many employers. [2/3]

Today's ruling on the EHRC's interim guidance is a disappointing, confusing and mixed picture.

A trans woman who is a customer in a café can use the women's toilets, but if she works there she might not be able to.

Once again everyday life is being made a legal labyrinth for trans people.

I'm reading the judgement. Might throw out a few comments here. IANAL and this won't be exhaustive.

In 10, I note that EHRC didn't seek to defend on the grounds that the Guidance *was* compatible with Convention rights. I wonder why /s

Pylon politics very tangled in Wales. Plaid promising a ban; Greens less hard line.

Greens' leader @anthonyslaughter.bsky.social made case well recently:

"We have to be honest with people. If we tell every community they can have cables underground...we, as politicians, know that's not true."

The High Court ruling that the proscription of #PalestineAction was unlawful is welcome.

All Green MPs voted against this proscription.

It's time for the govt to end the attacks on peaceful protest and the UK's complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

It goes to the same school as all their 'evidence' about trans people
The ban was justified by Yvette Cooper, who imposed it when she was Home Secretary, on the grounds that she knew some special secrets about PA the rest of us didn't: a shocking abuse of government privilege. She has never produced this "evidence", and we have reasons to believe it does not exist.

The judgment contains some good news for trans rights – but plenty of bad.

You all saw the guidance that went out yesterday for trans kids in schools. Absolutely horrific stuff.

This is how the right wing papers are covering that news. Times, Mail and Telegraph all have it on their front page, the first two as their main story of the day.

“We would expect support for full social transition to be agreed very rarely”
There you have it, the gov wants trans kids to rot in the closet
This explicit transphobia is spelled out in excruciating detail. Direct from Cass again.

This stuff needs to be challenged as a violation of the human rights act. It's absolutely indecent in terms of destroying children's rights to express themselves.
Literally asking a doctor if Samantha should be allowed to chop off their hair and go by the name Sam. Fucks sake.
This draft guidance reproduces Cass insisting that clinicians must be involved in decisions about *social transition* which actually should be none of their damn business

They take the line that this "non-directive" intervention should force things to be "keeping options open and flexible"...

When I came out as trans at school, it was a horrible process. I knew it would be.
I came out despite knowing this, because I needed support.
I remember the head of sixth form sitting me down and saying I needn’t have worried, there had obviously been transgender students at this school before.

Literally - Cass used the fact that children diagnosed as trans enough to be put on puberty blockers continued to be trans as they adolesced, as proof that puberty blockers were a problem. They were hoping more children at the service would stop being trans and looking for a means to make it happen.
They see the existence of trans people at all as a negative outcome.
a clinic that provided services to 12,000 people being closed on the basis of 8 complaints perfectly captures the nature of the uk 'trans-debate'

This is the simple response to the 'splitting the vote narrative.' Labour are not left-wing. Green isnt splitting the left vote, it is the only left wing option.
Robert Peston, "Wouldn't you regret Reform UK coming through in Gorton and Denton if The Greens split the left vote?"

Zack Polanski, "We cannot say that Keir Starmer's Labour would be a left wing vote"
