“You’re banned, you can’t chant that, you’re nicked for holding a sign, you’re kids are poorer, you’re colder, you have to have an ID card and the racists have legitimate concerns in our island of strangers… now vote for us or Farage wins.”

Note to offspring: this is the wording for my funeral notice. Change only the names, dates, places. Though if you can hire the Fishmongers Hall, all the better.

Funeral Invitation, 1688.

Funeral invitations first appeared in the 17th century, and acted as an admission ticket to both the church and the funeral feast. Pallbearers were often assigned a number on the ticket to signify their position in carrying the coffin.
A funeral invitation from April, 1688. It has an ornate black border with various memento mori iconography around it - like skeletons, winged hourglasses, and scythes.

“The existence of even one ex gay dismantles the central lie of homosexuality, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.”

Same shit different era.
Chloe Cole: The existence of even one detransitioner dismantles the central lie of transgenderism, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Ages ago I worked in a university library and I was a skilled photocopier whisperer. Of all the other experiences of my life it was most like owning cats.

Podcast I'm listening to: [Real historical person] did not trust Cardinal Richelieu.
Me: Well obviously, Richelieu is a bad, bad dog.
Richelieu from the cartoon Dogtanian and the Muskahounds, who is a dog.

And just because everything else is on fire: here is Jonny's opinion about me trying to learn snare drum patterns for samba band
A cushion which I am using as a drum, two drumsticks, and a fluffy black and white cat, one of whose very fluffy white paws is on the top of one drumstick, preventing me from moving out. She is looking intently at her paw and planning further mischief.

Do you think Streeting knows that diagnosis labels officially have nothing to do with the benefits system, as they don't accurately predict disability? Could he possibly be dog whistling? Surely he would never.
