Got a chance to play "Dinosaur Tea Party" finally. Turns out my method of picking a character in particular and asking all their features, or just guessing a name with no evidence, results in winning 3 out of 4 rounds against three other people. They were not happy with me.

"disintegration loops is the name i give my junk" i type into bluesky, having no idea what that even means, just combining words i have seen before in novel combinations in the vain hope of a serotonin hit when someone replies "what the fuck is wrong with you?"

I had a shower thought. People on Instagram all seem to like the stories feature a lot, and that's where you get vaguely chronological updates from people you chose to follow. It really is where value from being online comes from imo

I don’t agree with every point made here, but the main thesis — what we do with billionaires’ money is secondary to the fact that a free society simply cannot allow them to have it — accounts for most of my politics these days.
liberalcurrents.com
“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

Like this site shows that repeated interaction builds trust, because it is worth investing in others. Do smaller communites, forums, non-algorithm sites all build that trust better than the random drop ins of a discover-style feed?

Actually, this makes me think of the forums I used to frequent, and alt.fan.pratchett
Having shared interests seemed to be a more real connection, and much more conversation driven by topic and in respect.

Is this like the "I'll never interact with you" again of algorithmic social media as well?

I got most of my degree via remote learning through massey in the noughties, which was amazing for where I was at the time. But yeah, this must be interesting to deal with...

Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

“There are likely many reasons for rising poverty and crime in the city centre, but one of the main ones is almost certainly that no one has any money due to the crushing recession we’ve created on purpose.” #nzpol
