Went on a 20 mile bike ride through Taipei's riverside park system this weekend.
Stopped near a temple for a rest and saw a flowering plant surrounded by mesmerizing hummingbird hawk-moths.
I watched this with a sense of childlike wonder, grown adult awe and a sort of reverence.

This isn't a frame journalists have to accept. The cost of a service provided by the government isn't a profit loss. It's a choice to allow elected officials and the people they appoint to abdicate responsibility for maintaining a core function of the government by claiming its's something it's not.

On a serious note, it's true though. Take it from someone who lived in fight or flight for decades. Your body needs the calories!

On a serious note, it's true though. Take it from someone who lived in fight or flight for decades. Your body needs the calories!

How many times have we been warned not to put undocumented people at risk with careless disclosures, not to use apps collecting reproductive health info or 23AndMe. Are people so eager to believe in a trustworthy state they can't imagine how a Chinese state app might endanger a diaspora community?
Also my thing is, how many Americans (or their family in China) who may be Taiwanese or Uyghur may end up being closely scrutinized and monitored by the Chinese government as potential security threats?

I have to thank @kendrawrites.com for getting me to watch "The Expanse".
Not only is it a great show, it's satisfying to finally have a character (Amos) who just shoots the bad guy right off the bat rather than giving them ample opportunities to escape.
