Huge victory for hungry children 💚
Alongside many campaigners, the Green Party have absolutely dragged the Labour Government to finally end the child cap.

Labour politicians disgracefully defended it for far too long.

This shows why the Green Party membership rising and rising matters.

Totally support this take on the budget. Such vital community assets need protecting not destroying through government measures.
This Budget is yet another episode in the long running saga of failures to seize opportunities to support Grassroots Music Venues. The Government’s rhetoric on their support for this vital sector is completely undone by the reality of their business rates decision.

Labour governments at both ends of the M4 are clearly rattled.

It's time for Greens to replace them.

Brexit has smashed a *massive* hole in our economy

🫣 Up to £90bn a year in lost tax revenues

😬 UK’s GDP 6-8% smaller

😮 Equating to between £2,700 and £3,700 *per person*

No wonder Reeves is struggling to make the sums add up

How has this not been fully debunked in the public consciousness yet?
The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

💼 Tommorrow is Budget day.

The Green Party would: ⬇️

💡 Cut energy bills by ending profiteering

🚰 Cut water bills by bringing water into public hands

🏠 Let councils control rents

🚸 Lift the two-child benefit cap and extend free school meals to all

🤑 Tax billionaires
At the Budget, the Green Party's message is clear: Cut Bills. Tax Billionaires.

Since 2011 the fuel duty freeze has cost the Treasury £133 billion.

This huge amount could have paid for lower train and bus fares, better stations, safer walking, wheeling and cycling and much more!

Segregated cycle lanes work when there are enough of them! Most people in Birmingham live nowhere near any safe cycling infrastructure still. It’s a key reason why we have such low rates of cycling still.

Yeah, Nigel, I mean, imagine a sitting MP having 10 other jobs, including promoting bitcoins used to fund the Russian war effort, advising people how to avoid tax in the UK and supporting foreign governments against the UK. That would be very unpatriotic, wouldn’t it?

This is an unfortunate incident, but it does seem entirely in keeping with the man in charge of sorting out some of the most pressing issues in Birmingham and failing on all fronts. Why has Labour left him in that position? Is there nobody better? www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midland...

I don't think its up to the perpetrators of discrimination, harassment or bullying to make a judgment on the damage and pain they themselves caused to others with their vile behavior.
Asked again and again whether he ever racially abused his fellow pupils, as 20 people at his old school have now said he did, Nigel Farage will only say that he never did so in a "hurtful way" or "with intent"

We remain the only country ever to have imposed economic sanctions on itself.
Rachel Reeves says there’s a “hole” in the public finances.

A new decade-long Brexit study explains it:

a 6–8% hit to GDP – that's £180bn-£240bn a year – means less tax, less investment and less money for everything else.

Brexit made Britain poorer. Much poorer.

Some excellent suggestions in here that, if implemented, could end the government's cruel austerity measures. Please stop punishing those who can least afford it, Labour!
Will UK Chancellor redistribute?

End two-child benefit cap, cost £3bn-£3.6bn.
Abolish VAT on domestic fuel, cost £2.5bn.
Increase income tax personal allowance by £1000, cost £8.4bn.

Taxing capital gains at same rate as wages, generates £14bn+ more in NIC.

Another world is possible.
This is how Rachel Reeves could deliver a progressive budget
The chancellor has an opportunity to boost the public purpose and deliver redistribution

I found the part about COP quite enlightening - it's designed to fail. I know it has failed, but realising how and what we could do differently using other examples was useful. Just because that's the mechanism being used, doesn't mean it makes any sense. Also, the divide and rule concept was good.
