One of the most frustrating things about both parenting and politics is that it takes at least ten times longer to clean up a mess than to make the mess in the first place.

Every young generation explores retro technology because it’s cheap and plentiful and exotic but it’s more alluring when current technology gets actively shittier, more evil and invasive.

My parents were able to pay for college and I graduated without debt. I could take a risk to move to Silicon Valley, which led me to writing Automate the Boring Stuff with Python and my author career.

The goal of socialism isn't "free stuff". It's to give the benefits of generational wealth to all.
The way student loans are meant to limit your options in general is truly unhinged. I have fully paid off the amount I took out twice and still owe more than I took out.

One of the most disturbing things about the U.S. government getting themselves into the anti-vaccine game is that it is a time-release poison pill.

It will take a few years before the worst of the harm is visible to enough people that they will truly understand what has been done to them.

Did you know that before Nixon and Reagan, health insurance companies in America were non-profit? Yep, they screamed about "socialized medicine" and gradually shifted the focus of our entire healthcare system from public welfare to... making bucks off illness.

this gets to the fundamental lawlessness. the difference between law as a game and law as a tool of government.

birthright citizenship is the law. nothing has changed. the documents are the same. if that can change based on *nothing*, you don't have a real constitution in the first place.
also, let’s say wurman is right. well, we have had nearly 160 years of unlimited birthright citizenship that has been affirmed again and again by generations of Americans. whatever the original intent, that is what the birthright clause *means*.
