I think I found a new answer to "if you could talk to anyone from history, who would it be?"

I'd love to live in the Wellington that exists only in the minds of people who do not live in Wellington.
The bulk of NZ's taxes is not being used to create galleries and museums here. The previous Archives building was long overdue to be replaced. And most government departments are renting.

Currently doing some marking. A reminder to everyone involved in archives and collections: digitisation is not preservation. If I digitise a box of records and put the files on a USB stick I haven't preserved a thing. It's all about what you do with the files post-digitisation. #archives #digipres

a thing that i think that may be uncharitable: hating small talk is simply being the "uncomfortable when we are not about me" bird. only when the conversation turns to you or your interests will you deem the talk unsmall
people bitch about small talk, but small talk — and being able to shoot the shit with a stranger — is a key fucking social skill, and while i understand it doesn’t come naturally to everyone, it *is* one that’s useful and worth working on

Maybe didn't light the world on fire but you guys might wanna give this a shot. Of note, a friend of mine worked on this and I remember them being up late for weeks because he convinced them to replace the ai generated place holder food pics with his own human drawn stuff. It came out nice :)
