an "efficient" criminal punishment bureaucracy is a bone-chilling thing to contemplate. it means that in the 'fast, good, cheap' triangle they are going for 'fast' and 'cheap'.
The Labor Party in England is now proposing to get rid of almost all jury trials in England to make the criminal punishment bureaucracy more efficient. This should be a warning for us all. Neoliberals are walking us into the waiting arms of authoritarians.

I think we can safely say that the Leavitt's brother called ICE on his ex, the mother of his child, and I have to say: I have no desire to respect, find common ground or share the country with these monsters.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...
‘Brazil is not her home.’ Mother of Karoline Leavitt’s nephew, brought to US as child, detained by ICE. - The Boston Globe
Bruna Ferreira, 33, was brought to the United States as a child in 1998. She is now in removal proceedings in Louisiana.

Because yes, Thanksgiving as a national holiday has to do with the Civil War and not the Puritans or previously proclaimed days of Thanksgiving (of which there were hundreds) - so be sure, as you gather about the table, to give thanks for the victories brought by Union arms at Vicksburg & Gettysburg

To prevent this kind of tragedy:

*get a Tdap 💉during the 3rd trimester of every pregnancy
*vaccinate babies on AAP-recommended schedule
*ALL adults need TDap boosters every 10 years minimum (5 is better bc the pertussis part of 💉can wane sooner)

Trump has fully evolved into the mob boss he always wanted to be. Rich assholes come to him on the day of his daughter's wedding or whatever to beg him for favors and he puts a horse head in some other rich asshole's bed for them.

among other takeaways from this article: public childcare without means-testing would be life-altering for even more people than I thought. "we have two incomes, but one basically just pays for childcare" is ridiculous but it's a situation so many people are caught in.

this is some "I'm not *bouncing* on the bed, mommy, I'm *hopping*" toddler-level semantic parsing going on here.
Gregory Bovino’s deposition is out. Check here and @chicagotribune.com for highlights. Throughout, Bovino was evasive and combative. In this, while being asked about a photo showing him throwing tear gas, Bovino said: “You said canister. I threw two. That’s plural.”

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

At HAZWOPER training. Lots of videos about how easy it is to die by rushing into a dangerous situation to rescue your buddy.
It's *hard* to not rush in to rescue your buddy but the most likely outcome is that the next person to come by will have two buddies to rescue instead of one.

This feels kind of important right now
No better way to signal intent to give illegal orders than to blow up at the lawful suggestion to not follow illegal orders.

Do not follow illegal orders.

Fitting that this Administration would want a return to "just following orders."
BLITZER: I want to be precise. Should members of the US military obey clearly illegal orders?

McCLAIN: You're asking an enlisted person for their opinion on what they think is legal. That's a pretty slippery slope. Follow your commander in chief. That's the oath that you took

And when real women don't fawn, don't glaze them the way these digital yes men do, express opinions, they will view them as *defective* chatbots.

I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:

1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;

2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.
