Author of sapphic urban fantasy🌈 THE RISING DARK out now! She/they. Probably petting all of the neighbourhood cats right now
I would LOVE to hire all of the artists to make a mountain of art of my characters. There is nothing better than supporting fellow creatives and I love seeing my word-characters turned into visual art 🖤
If money was no object, what sort of merchandise would you make for your book? #WritingPrompt

It's #lesficfri, theme is "thrill". All of the quotes I could use had spoilers, so instead, a little quote from the first chapter!

The Rising Dark is a sapphic urban fantasy novel with vampires, demon-slaying & very British coziness. It's on all of the retailers, including Kobo Plus & Itch!

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

The first draft of the second Sisters of Twilight book is done at 78300 words! 🥰

It's going to be significantly longer than THE RISING DARK, featuring more vampire lore, more mysteries to be unraveled, and of course, a FF romance between a vampire warrior and a human doctor!

With the winter holidays coming up, may I recommend my FF novel, THE RISING DARK? 🏳️‍🌈🖤

It features a human nurse falling in love with the tall, beautiful vampire of her dreams. There are women with swords killing demons, sapphic smooching, some mystery, and cozy paranormal vibes!

'Pen name' is said in a flat American accent by a harassed writer dressed in sweatpants & coffee-stained t-shirt hunched over a keyboard

'Nom de plume' is said with panache by a mysterious figure wielding a quill *scratch scratch* on a sheaf of parchment while wearing a cloak & possibly a top hat

My favourite by far is Romantic Outlaws by Charlotte Gordon. The joint biography of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley reads is mesmerizing. The drama! The pathos! The inevitable heartbreak!

Highly recommend even for people not usually into biography
Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

Finally saw Frankenstein in the cinema and had a delightful time. Very much enjoyed the visual aspects, and although the story was reimagined, it felt quite true in spirit to the book

This might be a good moment to let everyone know my sapphic urban fantasy novel THE RISING DARK is on Kobo Plus! You can read it for free!

It has a UK setting, vampire warrior women with swords, and a sweet romance. The second book is coming in spring 2026.

Kobo is doing a 30 day free trial promotion for their Kindle Unlimited competitor service Kobo Plus for new subscribers (not sure if this is US only), if you like queer indie books, small press SFF, and backlist SFF from large publishers there's a lot to choose from on this service that's not on KU!

Gailey's THE ECHO WIFE was excellent, can't wait for this one!
MAKE ME BETTER is my forthcoming novel about the horrors of community. It is about cults, wellness, control, and the things we will do to escape grief.

Sometimes it hurts to grow -- but your community believes that you can be made pure.

It comes out in May.

Women with swords, you say... 👀
THE RISING DARK, my sapphic urban fantasy novel, has now entered what I call The Trickle™, where after the excitement of release, people are slowly finding it organically. It's so satisfying to see new readers discover it!

(Also, if you're into warrior women with swords & sweet romances... 👀)

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

Had to watch this week as my French teacher told class they could use AI to practice French with, but "be careful because it's very often wrong". If only there were these resources that were vetted by experts and checked for errors... like... books?

It's university policy to promote AI use
