My spouse is no longer eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, but our income did not significantly change between their previous FAFSA application in March and their most recent application this month. This seems sketchy and related to the corrupt Trump regime gutting the Department of Education.

Technical writers are shapeshifters—we adapt to whatever the situation demands.

Listen to our latest episode with Fabrizio Ferri-Benedetti (@theletterf.bsky.social) on strategic thinking, his Seven-Action Documentation model, and growing as a tech writer in the AI era.

We have to take on the shape that best suits the situation at any given moment." Attribution: Fabrizio Ferri-Benedetti, passo.uno. I don't know if this would be too much surveillance, but it could be useful/interesting if a meeting booking app could gamify things by tracking someone's streak of attending meetings. People with a good attendance streak could unlock the ability to use the "I know how to use a calendar" option. 😆

I feel anger rising in my body anytime I think of Elon. Thanks for hearing me out!

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty.

www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...
There is one place, however, where Musk, with the help of his minions, achieved his goals. He did indeed shred U.S.A.I.D. Though a rump operation is now operating inside the State Department, the administration says that it has terminated more than 80 percent of U.S.A.I.D. grants. Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, has estimated that these cuts have already resulted in about 300,000 deaths, most of them of children, and will most likely lead to significantly more by the end of the year. That is what Musk’s foray into politics accomplished.

I 100% resonate with your perspective. I will absolutely never spend a single cent on anything Elon is involved with for the rest of my life. He's descended into destructive sociopathic behavior that is unforgivable. Beyond Twitter, the death and suffering his cuts to USAID caused are tragic.

🚨 “…you cannot trust [the] CDC today at all … Right now, at [the] CDC, all of the senior level positions in the executive suite are political appointees with no scientific expertise.”
–Dr. Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH
A quote from Dr. Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH that was said in Making Sense #436:

“We all have had our moments of disagreement with 1 or more issues that the CDC might have been involved with, but there was a tremendous respect and appreciation for the overall scientific expertise of that organization. So it pains me to no end to tell you: you cannot trust [the] CDC today at all. You can’t trust the FDA. Right now, at [the] CDC, all of the senior level positions in the executive suite are political appointees with no scientific expertise. This would be like putting 12 individuals in charge of an aircraft carrier [who] are all political appointees. This is tragic … And that is why I was involved in starting a new effort called the Vaccine Integrity Project.”

A picture of Dr. Michael Osterholm is in the bottom left of the image.

California, Oregon, and Washington should secede from the U.S. and form their own country. The U.S. federal government doesn't deserve any tax dollars from these states.

Thanks for sharing. I'm listening right now. Yesterday I emailed all of the Coralville and Iowa City council members to express my deep concern about the violent ICE enforcement action that occurred at Bread Garden Market. I hope both cities can implement some kind of community protection measures.

I overcame my laziness and found this answer via Perplexity. 😆
How come sometimes when I mark an email as spam in Gmail it offers to block that address and sometimes it doesn't? I can't figure out the behavior.
Gmail sometimes offers to block an address when marking an email as spam, but not always, because the option depends on specific details of the sender and how Gmail’s system categorizes the email origin. The “Block” feature typically appears when Gmail recognizes a clear, individual sender address, allowing further action directly against future emails from that sender. In cases where the spam comes from a sender using random or frequently changing email addresses (common with sophisticated spammers), the block option may not show, as Gmail cannot reliably target repeating addresses.

I've wondered that too, but never cared enough to look it up. 😆 Let me know if you ever find the answer!

The US healthcare system and the current executive branch are inhumane. I'm appalled by both of those things.

Also, I'm sure you are a good dad! ❤️

Putin should have been arrested immediately after arriving in Alaska. Trump should also be arrested of course, but the U.S. justice system has utterly failed.

My spouse and I saw #thelastclassfilm with @rbreich.bsky.social on Aug 9 at @icfilmscene.bsky.social. It's an inspiring and touching documentary!

I appreciated Robert’s reminder that leaders are made, not born.

I also purchased Robert’s new memoir (“Coming Up Short”) from @prairielights.com.
