i am absolutely empathetic to a man whose lost his daughter. however, there is at least one other person who is an obvious participant in this child's life. and as a lesbian it is difficult not to consider the underscoring that is suggested here
Renee Nicole Good, the woman shot & killed by an ICE agent, had a young son whose father died in 2023, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune

“There’s nobody else in his life,” the boy’s grandfather told the paper. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come get my grandchild.” www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

they're racist and xenophobic and are targeting basically everyone who isn't white, but being white won't save you either

what this should make clear to everyone in this country is that it does not matter who you are, there's no "it could never happen to me"

you can be a white woman who drives around with stuffed animals in her car, and they will still kill you in cold blood and call you a domestic terrorist
The murdered woman's glove compartment is filled with stuffed animals.

I’m of the firm belief that police and militia members have been quietly running right wing death squads in the US for years. The fate of the most notable Ferguson protestors is the most blatant example of it. ICE in 2025-26 is simply the same people operating in public.

No architecture, however, resolves the inherent complexity of a large software or organizational system. The best it can do is reduce the complexity.

LLMs (and many of the people who use them) do not understand architecture.

People who think Kurosawa is “homework cinema” need to be slapped around a bit.
so cool that when Kurosawa made Seven Samurai, he was like, "What if a movie absolutely ripped for three-and-a-half hours straight?"

Mario just learned Bowser is gay and is clumsily trying to be respectful while wrecking his shit because Mario is old fashioned and naive, but he’s not a jerk.
please god, let it happen in 2026*

*we figure out why Mario said "so long, gay Bowser" in Super Mario 64

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

i was especially struck by these paragraphs, which rang very true to me. libs who grew up around conservatives aren't embarrassed to be liberals--or confused about what conservatives want. there's a certain kind of elite media man, on the other hand--
