bringing back a classic

an adaptation of the sandy loam chart, aka, a triangle where each side is an axis from 0 100, forming triangular little pockets in the center in a pseudo-3-axis chart form. the three axes are "hoinky sploinky" "doinky woinky" and "rinky dinky," each with a "pure" form (penis music, furret walk, and ukelele covers respectively). there is a minor screed here about electroswing sucking, which it does.

anyone have recommendations for learning furry art? what i'm doing for now is just copying whatever art from other artists strikes my interest as i scroll bluesky, which i think is probably the best approach, but maybe there are some helpful tutorials out there?

I feel like i'm getting a good start on treating autumn and winter as the hunker down inside and work on art months. i always do my most visual art in these times, though it's been a while since i've got into this rhythm due to pandemic and moving and such. feels good to be drawing again tho

dusted off my copy of Keys to Drawing that i got back in 2018, definitely the best guide to illustration i've ever found. but I'm going through the exercises which all say "allow yourself at least 30 minutes" and i'm doing them in like 10? idk how to take longer than that to draw when not erasing

oakland has been turning into what san francisco has become for a while now as well. 17 years of my ilfe there, and i loved it dearly, it's always going to be home to me, but recent years it really started to lose the things that made it a haven for artists and punks

i've been dreaming of getting another macbook since my old 2014 model died, cuz apple's audio is amazing and apple silicon is great for music apparently, but i'm deathly afraid of killing such an expensive laptop with my clumsiness. tablets seem sturdier since no hinges or keyboards

the fact that windows audio doesn't even let me use my fucking microphone to record into my DAW makes me completely insane; i can't even do rough vocal or guitar takes or sampling around the house without it being an ordeal

honestly i'm thinking of just getting an ipad instead of a new laptop once this dies. 90% of my use is for web browsing and youtube; i occasionally make music with it but not as much as i'd like. and i've always wanted an ipad for Procreate and the music gadget ecosystem like the cool Bram Bos tools

my laptop has finally suffered the ultimate blow that becomes the death knell of all my laptops: one of the hinges has come detached from the case. there's never any way to get these back on once it happens, and eventually something else breaks. so fucking frustrating

i have this issue with my mom where she's super supportive and understanding of trans issues, but when i mention being afraid of shootings at gay bars and conventions, she's always like "yeah well it's a risk anywhere you go now, it's horrible" and like yeah that's true but that's very different
