I posted this for 2 reasons:
1. The Little Rock Nine students are still alive, that is how recent integration was.
2. Be the nice kid, not the witness.
Little Rock Nine student Minnijean Brown-Trickey: "There were 20 nice kids...There were about 300 really mean kids.... there were 1700 silent witnesses who stood by & said nothing...if you're walking through terror, if somebody smiles with a genuine smile, you feel like oh, there's hope."

i feel like the viral bus thread resonates because at every step of the way you're like "ok surely this will be resolved shortly, any second now," which seems like what all the passengers are also thinking. then the fact that the situation doesn't resolve and the bus just keeps going is an Allegory

Regular people in Minnesota standing up to ICE and protecting their neighbors. Denmark and Belgium taking the strongest stances of European countries against Trump’s Greenland threats. Amazing how those with less power take action and sacrifice, while so many of the powerful equivocate and cower.

I like that the same day a guy was like “this place will never be Twitter” this thread gave us the most 2015 Twitter experience (complimentary) imaginable.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

I gained like 1k followers on bluesky in a day when I gave McAfee a wedgie on national television

I got threats on twitter at the same time that happened. same on instagram.

idk man different priorities here maybe
A tale of three apps. Identical post sent at the same time:

Twitter: 136,000 likes, 20,000 shares

Threads: 46,000 likes, 4,000 ahares

Bluesky: 149 likes, 45 shares

To be clear, I have 60k followers on Twitter, 15k on Bluesky, but only 7k on Threads.

I love Bluesky, but this isn't sustainable.

When Trump chose Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, I said he did so because he knew Hegseth wouldn't hesitate to use troops against the American people.

The move comes after President Trump again threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act to control ongoing protests over the immigration enforcement surge in Minneapolis.

‘ZOOTOPIA 2’ has already outgrossed the entire theatrical run of ‘INSIDE OUT 2’

It is now Disney’s highest-grossing animated film of all time.

i was talking with someone in the twin cities about how it’s not even accurate to call them protesters. they’re literally just people protecting their city from TERRORISTS.
Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

“As an attorney, I should be able to confidently advise my clients and community on what their constitutional rights are and how to exercise them, but the truth is that here in the Twin Cities right now, people’s Constitutional rights don't matter.”
Six weeks into the immigration enforcement surge in the Twin Cities and observers say the violence employed by ICE agents is getting worse. While this kind of response isn't new to immigrants, the difference is that many ICE observers are also having their basic constitutional rights violated.
