artist residencies are some of the most nourishing + productive environments to experiment + take risks in, to work through ideas both old + new, to simply have the time + space to feel it all out

my eternal thanks to Jason Andrew of Norte Maar for opening up his Adirondack home and barn for me 🧵1/

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

you're goddamn right I'll be bidding on one of these and for good cause but low key my dream is to curate an exhibition where all 3 of Ross' episodic paintings are exhibited side-by-side à la Rauschenberg's "Factum I + Factum II"

*reference: technique en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross

Thirty paintings created by the bushy-haired, soft-spoken Bob Ross will soon be up for auction to defray the costs of programming for small and rural public television stations suffering under cuts in federal funding. https://to.pbs.org/4nEQMrw
Bob Ross paintings to be auctioned to support public TV stations after federal funding cuts
All profits will help public TV stations with licensing fees for popular programs that include "The Best of Joy of Painting" and "America's Test Kitchen."

Never before in American history has one state's military force been deployed in another state over its objection.

I say never because the Civil War involved states whose governments legally ceased to exist, their offices vacated by constructive resignation, with no legitimate governors to object.

We really hit on something with the 12 year old theory of governance because that’s really the entire political project. It’s being 12 years old and not even normal 12 year olds but real pieces of shit 12 year olds

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

found a book about MINECRAFT on the street and it's the perfect building material (colonnades, chimneys, porticos, gables, flying buttresses, mystic lairs, modern dens, glass buildings, pictorial windows, aesthetic themes like steampunk, industrial, infernal, rustic, classical, fantasy, historical)

are swifties okay
patreegs on instagram says

You need to listen to it once completely through while driving a car alone. Then you have to
listen to it indoors lying down. THEN you pick a few and listen to them WHILE you read the lyrics on your computer. You WILL find that you misheard some of the lyrics. DONT panic. Its COMPLETELY normal and healthy. DONT think about taylors life yet and DONT try to make sense of the lyrics and DONT panic if you dont like some of the songs at first bc your brain will LEARN to like them (evolutionary mechanism).
THEN, continue listening on loop as needed but have 2-3 that you sometimes just listen to on repeat. THEN re-emerge into the world and connect with others about their response to the text. THEN apply practically to your life. THEN examine how they fit into taylors. At this point you can start to lightly engage in online discourse if that feels healthy and safe.

taking my mind off things by getting into obscure, aesthetically-pleasing camo patterns

1) Mitchell "Vine Leaf" (USA, 50s)
2 "Leaf Spring" (Romania, 90s)
3 "Grassland" (Dem. Rep. of Congo, 2010s)
4 "M90" (Sweden, 90s)
Mitchell "Vine Leaf," or "Wine Leaf" camo pattern. The first camo pattern adopted by the US Army. Remarkably figurative by modern standards, it depicts branches and leaves, somehow making it appear more twee and less ferocious and militaristic than most camo patterns. Romanian soviet-era "spring leaf" camo, a green and yellow pattern that almost looks like it belongs on a Hawaiian shirt, or like a tablecloth from Anthropologie or something. Congo "Grasslands" pattern, used by DRC Presidential Guards starting around 2010, is highly aesthetic, thanks to its figurative depiction of fern-like branches and leaves in overlapping and alternating colors. Swedish "M90" camo pattern, uses large, distinctive angular "splinter" shapes, that almost harken back to "dazzle" camouflage techniques once used on warships.

unplugged entirely from twitter and went all-in on bluesky

no regrets
