The lines are being drawn and it is terrifying to watch the country divide itself in real time. What is the end result? Will Kansas and other states refuse to recognize driver's licenses or birth certificates from WA or CA? Maybe those places issue "new" birth certificates for transplants from KS?
Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.

As far as I know, Tom Suozzi here still does not have a primary challenger in his district (NY-3 on Long Island).

The filing deadline is April 6 for the primary on June 23, and if there's a remotely progressive town council member or PTA president in that district, this is the time to make a move.
Confronted Congressman Tom Suozzi, one of seven Democrats casting the decisive votes to increase ICE funding by $10,000,000,000.

Absolutely incredible sequence from CNN.

This is unconscionable. Evil.

But it happened in May 2023, when Biden was president.

So no, we don’t “reform immigration detention,” we destroy ICE, CBP, and DHS. We can’t reform this soul sickness.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

One thing I think it notable here is that Weiss talks about being for "the center." She's doing that thing that Elon Musk does where he goes, "Actually, my views are moderate. I don't get why people say I'm far-right." It's an effort to shift public perception of what "center" or "moderate" means.

Are Americans “divided” or is a cruel and ruthless minority of Americans attempting to kill as many other Americans as it takes to further gain and entrench their power

The use of the word “divided” is interesting to me because it connotes the idea that there are two different positions across from each other, even when the reality is that one side is terrorizing the other out of desire to assert violent domination and unjust supremacy

Extremely funny and on the nose that a conservative finds people holding convictions that do not involve money “terrifying”
James O’Keefe responds to a comment

“Figured they (ICE protesters) were being paid…”

O’Keefe:

“No, it's more terrifying than that. It's not transactional.

They actually believe in their cause.

That truth is going to be hard for most people to understand or accept.”

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

I don't think @reuters.com posted it here, but I'm just kind of shocked that anyone working in media could have gone into the second Trump administration thinking, "I don't think in those first few days we understood what an organized agenda they had."
