Moose are great swimmers, can fully submerge for 30+ sec, & dive up to 5m deep! When a moose submerges its head, the difference btwn water pressure & air pressure causes specialized structures w/in moose nostrils to seal the nose! The deeper they dive, the greater the pressure, the tighter the seal!

Quote this skeet with a random fact you love, that brings you joy, I'll start:

Otters have pockets. The skin under their armpits makes a natural fold that they keep things in.

The two times I’ve had COVID, I caught it from him after he was traveling for work. I worked in retail in person with customers every day for the first two years of the pandemic while he was WFH, but I didn’t catch COVID that whole time until his first work trip.

I don’t think she doom-posting though? At least that’s not how I read it. I think she’s just saying that she’s fed up with Dem leaders not doing diddly squat to actually *lead* and create any kind of opposition to Trump’s fascism. Basically, if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

The next steps in the wok pot pie which may be newly renamed… Cock Cobbler. I mean, I can’t really say no to that! 😂😂😂😂🍽️🍜
The veg in the wok. The veg and chicken in a wok. The veg and chicken and flour in a wok. The veg and chicken and flour and chicken stock and cream in a wok.

Huh: TikTok took down my 8-second video featuring this image of Debbie Brockman — the news producer just detained by Trump’s CBP agents — saying it violates the “joy of TikTok”

SO: We don't do studies to make proof.

If your goal is to generate data in support of something, you'll probably succeed. But if your goal is to actually learn the truth, then you should be doing studies to disprove or invalidate your best hypotheses.

The best way to have a hypothesis or theory stand the test of time, is to do our best to prove it wrong. Find the biggest weakness or alternate explanation and rigorously test those things. If you disprove your idea, then you've learned something extremely important!

If I'm motivated to support an idea, I can think of LOTS of ways to generate data to support the idea. But this is a problem. Generating data to find 'proof' of something doesn't lead us towards finding the truth; it just further entrenches us in believing that idea (even if it's wrong).

Right, but that’s an entirely different question.

After the sun has set, some people can close their eyes and still see a picture of that sunset in their mind. Some people can’t.

…but is the picture you see in your brain when you see the red object the same as what I see in my brain when I see the red object?
cjmoose.bsky.social
We know that our brain recognizes/can distinguish between different wavelengths of light to create vision, but we do we really know what others are actually seeing? We may both identify an object that reflect light with a wavelength of 700 nanometer as being red…

The more we use this technology, the more we necessarily turn over not only our data and our privacy but the basic things we need to survive. Meanwhile, reality is totally reshaped by LLMs as increasingly authoritarian media is pumped out as training data. Nothing could be more useful to them.

Imagine for a moment a world so dependent on data centers that every aspect of municipal infrastructure must be reshaped. Not around human need, but maintaining GPU farms that use exponentially more power and water with each build. Models are only growing, and our resources are only diminishing.

This is not a border crossing.
There’s no law that any of us have to show our papers on the interior.

This is a blatant civil rights violation. How is anyone supposed to know whether this man is a real ICE agent or just pretending to be one?!
