I absolutely agree. I bike every day to work, but when I need to go to the airport or the Amtrak station, I need to take a bus there - - which is debatable if it will show up. Hell, I have to take Greyhound from Pittsburgh to Baltimore soon and their track record is deplorable. 😢

Dear Jeebus,
Please smite all shitty distracted drivists.
Amen.

I have been biking to work for 15 years. Today it was 52F this morning. The same coworker asked me yet again "Did you ride your bike?" Yes, Ethel, I rode my bike to work today. Every day for 15 years. All 4 seasons. One less car in the parking garage for you. (I don't have a car anyway.) 😜
clarinetchick.bsky.social
The biz owners and entitled drivists who come in from the burbs are suing my city against putting in bidirectional bike lanes on #PennAve. It is infuriating. I don't want to ride the sidewalk, but I also deserve to stay alive.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
One way streets with murder strips (aka sharrows) can be a scary ride. Drivists go faster on one way streets than on 2 way. I don't begrudge any cyclist who take the sidewalk for their safety. In fact, #PennAve in PGH ##stripdistrict is 1 way w/sharrows, 2 lanes driving, w 2 lanes of parked cars!
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Well you did mention that cyclists *should* to go out of their way to get to the protected bike lanes. My comment is that my protected bike infra to cross a river is a mile out of my way. Why do we expect cyclists to go farther away than a driver would?
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Protected bike infrastructure on Penn Ave now! Stop letting drivists dictate my safety where I shop. Drivists can go back to the suburbs. #IBIKEIVOTE #EXTENDPENN #rightsizepennave
A beautiful ebike with a throttle is parked outside of the Smallman St Deli in the Strip District Pittsburgh that should have protected bike infrastructure but the local drivist crybabies and business owners won't give up one lousy lane of parking despite there being 5 lanes of car traffic into the city of Pittsburgh. Typical Yinzer carbrain bullshit.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
I am from Pittsburgh and I will GLADLY tell you what you can and can't drive. Hell, I lived in rural western PA for 14 years too, so I absolutely can tell all Midwesterners that their oversized trucks are wasteful and dangerous. 😘🖕
clarinetchick.bsky.social
We need more visible bike activism in Pittsburgh. We should be having WEEKLY group rides advocating for more & better bike infrastructure. @bikepgh.bsky.social what can we do?
clarinetchick.bsky.social
I didn't know magats ever rode bikes. I thought they only drove lifted F150s everywhere.

clarinetchick.bsky.social
This is some bullshit. We have 5 lanes inbound to downtown. Go speed on Liberty and let me have protected bike infrastructure on Penn Ave. Buncha cryin drivists. 😡 #bikesky

I shop in the Strip District. I deserve safe protected bike infrastructure in the #stripdistrictpittsburgh #extendpenn #rightsizepennave #ibikeivote Yes my ebike has a throttle. Vroom vroom.
My gorgeous ebike with throttle parked outside of Mon Amiee Chocolate on Penn Ave in Pittsburgh where they are trying to block the continuation of protected bike lanes thru the Strip District.

Thanks. Your comment was giving that impression. I really dislike riding the sidewalks on the bridges. They are too narrow especially passing another cyclist! Pgh is so resistant to bike infra. I wish we had more bike activism here.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Only ONE bridge has dedicated plastic bollard protected bike lanes - out of 14 bridges that connect neighborhoods across the rivers. It is deplorable.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
More people suffer brain injuries inside of cars and SUVs. #CarHelmetsNow
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Drivists routinely go 40 or faster on the 16th Street Bridge. I am not risking my life. There are signs telling bikes to use the sidewalk. I h8 it bc I would like to just get to my destination at a reasonable speed myself. But I am the bad guy here on my ebike? 😒 We need more bike infra in PGH.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Here's the thing. I am poor. I don't drive. I ride an ebike bc I live in Pittsburgh where it is hilly. We have 3 rivers with nearly every bridge devoted to car infra. The bridge closest to me forces me to ride the sidewalk legally. I h8 it bc cars have 4 lanes to speed even tho it is 25mph.
chrisraccoons.bsky.social
Oh, agreed absolutely with the former. We'd like to see some enforcement.

Regarding the sidewalks in this specific place- the on-road infrastructure is actually pretty good (we are cyclists), but it's one street over and some people are very very lazy.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
This...so much this.

the moral panic about the "e-bike delivery guys" is what will drive me over the edge. every type of person seems to be against e-bike delivery guys but utilize them. i also think there's probably a bit racism sprinkled in there too. but hey, we can't police drivers driving 30mph over the limit.

Throttles aren't illegal in the USA. People who ride electric motorcycles on paths are a problem. But apparently anyone with an ebike is a scofflaw now. 😑 I am asserting my right to ride my bike where I need to. If there was protected infrastructure everywhere, I would be much happier.
clarinetchick.bsky.social
Your comments seem to imply people who don't *appear* mobility impaired do not need the extra help getting their heavy bikes rolling. The throttle is a tool. I am 5'1". I struggle to get my bike going from a dead stop w PAS only. I am not impaired but I am not a weight-lifter either.
