Only in America do you have Cooper Kupp, who grew up in a small city in Eastern Washington, talk to the Super Bowl press corps about his pregame pho ritual before the second-biggest football game of his life.

This is what makes America great.

Dawn also performed three songs by Canadian modern Celtic artist Heather Dale. These songs explore life lessons from mythology. Here is part of “Mordred’s Lullaby“ from King Arthur legends, describing serious inherited baggage from parents.

We have a really wonderful local arts scene, with artists training in the next generation to create real music and theater by real humans. Here is Dawn Madsen of Dawn and the Dead, trained locally herself. Impressive range of musical styles. And so generous crediting and promoting songwriters.

Heroic production of “Murder on the Orient Express” by Red Curtain for the Arts in Marysville. The set changes were literally large rolling train interiors, difficult in a really small space. The cast was excellent as always.

I am terrible at compressing giant image files for social media and keeping quality intact, but wanted to share this comically small short-eared owl harassing this bald eagle. The scruffy looking eagle was trying to land but oh noooo said the small #bird enforcement officer. 1/2

Be bold, Louvre — put it back on display, unrepaired, on a slow rotating display stand. Talk about theft, pull out the copy of the Cursed Diamond Necklace of Bankruptcy (& Infamy) +5 and talk about the rumors and slander in that one. Jewel theft has been part of jewels forever. Lean into it.
“The museum’s decorative arts director, Olivier Gabet, said the museum staff didn’t know how much the restoration would cost, but were starting with an estimate of 40,000 euros.”

And in honor of the hater, here is a report. Respect 🫡 to Gladys Mae West.
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Immigrants’ Recent Effects on Government Budgets: 1994–2023
Our analysis in this paper shows that immigrants generated a fiscal surplus of about $14.5 trillion from 1994 to 2023, that the average immigrant is much less costly than the average US-born American,...
