Just two years ago, it would have been impossible to imagine that the USA would become an imperialistic nation openly desiring territorial expansion. It seems to have changed into an unsightly and disgraceful nation. And it seems that the contry I live is not in the "opposite" side.
The US and Germany may once again be on opposite sides of a war, but this time the US is the bad guys.

Before it, I knew only the beginning 32 measures of the 2nd piece of his "three ldylls" as the theme of Britten's "Varation on a theme of Frank Bridge".

Compare the Britten to his teacher's Three Idylls for String Quartet and you can clearly hear the influence. And why not? This is lovely music, not always as idyllic as its title suggests.

ちょいと覗きに来た「界隈の外」の人たちを怖気づかせる呪文的用語はうまく処理しておきたいんだよ…カタカナ語増殖に無頓着になりやすいのが西洋愛好界隈、という自覚が必要なんだ

添付画像はベートーヴェン第九交響曲第3楽章冒頭の弦楽パートです。一見、「和声学」の四声体で進んでいくようにも見えるのですが(管楽器が合いの手を入れる箇所は例外として)、第12~13小節で、Violin 2とViolaが8度で並行してますね。いわゆる「 #芸大和声 / #藝大和声 」ではアウトになる書法で、それ故、逆にこの曲が単なる四声体和声じゃないことを示しているのでしょうが、ここでベートーヴェンが敢えて「連続8度」を導入した意図は何なんでしょう？

The string part of the 3rd movement in Beethoven's Symphony No.9. About 18 measures from the beginning are shown.
It seems to be "S-A-T-B" style harmonics, but, in the 12th - 13th measure, the 2nd violin and viola make a continuous octave and what is called a "parallel octave" in harmony is occurring. If this were harmony excersise, it would be regarded as a "wrong solution".
