I think I need a Bluesky break. I need to turn my efforts toward other venues for a bit. You can still find me elsewhere if you’re interested—or follow my art blog using RSS.

Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

I've made about $17k all year, INCLUDING my adjunct teaching job.

There is this idea that anyone working in the arts has wealthy family help, and sure some do, but a lot of us are simply poor. If you enjoy someone's work please pay them for it. It is not greedy to want to be paid for your labor.

Sometimes a change can be good. A while back I drew these RAF tankers, a Bedford QL (Imperial War Museum, Duxford) & AEC Matador (Yorkshire Air Museum).

Got this done on my livestream yesterday: Aesop’s “The Fox and the Woodcutter”. Look it up—it’s relevant to today.

"That's why I paint. It's because I can create the kind of world that I want, and I can make this world as happy as I want it. Shoot, if you want bad stuff, watch the news."

Exactly the reason I do it too.☀️❤️

1. I see elsewhere on Bluesky that the discourse has turned toward telling writers not to be ashamed to admit they have day jobs or other sources of income (or spousal/family financial support), and you know what, that's 100% correct. Day jobs and support from loved ones are great if you have them!

November's lino cut print "Solitude" felt like a step up in my lino work. After doing around 36 of these I feel like I'm finally starting to get the hang of it lol
I mixed Pthalo green and platinum white to get a slightly lighter green and I love the results on the tan paper. :)

#HumboldtCounty To the forlorn lass fr in front of the Co-Op on 4th in Eureka. I hope you found your 🐶. I walked around the area for about an hour & 1/2 but didn’t see him (her?). I also checked the parking lot of the Starbucks where he disappeared 3-4 times since then in case he found 1/2

"Let’s say 20 years ago the rate for a page of pencils was $150. People still get paid that."

My work is largely in the book market, buuuut yeah.

BOOM! recently reached out to offer an IP gig with the following rates:
script $50/page, pencils&inks $150/pg, colors $50/pg
