The Obamas are brilliant, compassionate and patriotic Americans. They represent the best of this country.

Donald Trump is a vile, unhinged and malignant bottom feeder.

Why are GOP leaders like John Thune continuing to stand by him?

Republicans must immediately denounce Trump’s disgusting bigotry.

Say what you will, but in countries with strong institutions, such as Brazil, the government cannot decide that they can fire civil servants at will, because civil service protections are spelled out in the constitution.
Midnight, June 7 is the deadline to comment on the revised Schedule F, Trump's plan to politicize the civil servants by converting them into at-will appointees that can be fired for the mildest pushback against illegal actions.
It's easy - here is how:

Adding a citizenship question serves no purpose except to discourage census participation.

The 14th Amendment says to count everyone. Allowing the ruling party in a census year to change who gets counted would be yet another assault on democracy.

Trump officials propose testing a citizenship question amid a push to alter the census
The Trump administration proposes to include a question about U.S. citizenship status in this year's field test of the 2030 census, as Republicans push to alter the counts behind voting maps.

The Trump administration finalized a new policy on Thursday that would strip job protections from up to 50,000 federal workers, a move that would make it easier for President Trump to remove or discipline them, in his latest effort to dismantle the federal work force.

The policy change makes it easier for the president to discipline or remove up to 50,000 employees, another push in the administration’s campaign to reshape the federal work force.

Hey Yale, time for your post-tenure review committee to step in and fire this guy. We don’t actually have to accept that professors can treat students this way and no part of academic freedom demands it.
I have been writing letters of recommendation for just shy of thirty years— 17 students this year alone— in ratios that more or less track the majority-women population of liberal arts students.

Obviously I have never commented on a student's looks... and no recipient has ever called me to ask.

We need constitutional amendments to take these powers away from the Presidency. We need a government that is more responsive to the people and not a dictator want-a-be. We need the power for the voters to recall the President, Vice President, Senators, and Supreme Court Justices.

Final Schedule F rule published: in defiance of the vast majority of public comments, it commits to further politicizing government, removing anyone the Trump administration dislikes.

I think it should probably be a bigger story that the president of the United States is a raving lunatic
Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast: "We hit 'em. And we want to hit 'em right, sir, and we want to hit them from the top! East, west, north, south. Sir, they won't know what the hell! And we'll knock them out. We did it politically correct. Five years."

I wrote a song for our immigrant neighbors here in Minnesota.

Pardon my rusty guitar skills—it’s been over 10 years since I wrote my last song, but this moment called for music.

The pandemic caused a lot of change. Some changes that show up in survey data result from changes in survey methods. For example, a rise in the share of Spaniards identifying with no religion coincides with a switch from in-person to phone surveys. Read more: sociologicalscience.com/download/vol...

High young adult #mortality makes reaching old age less likely in the US than elsewhere. That's true in all states, but in WV and MS more than one-fourth of 20-year-olds are not expected live to retirement age.

I was a White House ethics lawyer.

I used to advise people not to even accept a free cup of coffee from someone who had interests before them. And staff followed those rules.

I can’t even find the words to describe the scale of Trump’s corruption here.
Foreign countries are bribing our president to sell out the American people.

Trump family businesses made $187 MILLION from this deal, and just months later he gave the UAE some of our most top-secret AI tech.

They are selling our national security to the highest bidder.
