Republicans just had a press conference showing photos of ICE arrests of "pedophiles, drug traffickers, murderers," and Democrats should do the same thing but with pictures of ICE agents who committed the same crimes.
This is the second time an ICE employee has been arrested in in a Bloomington, MN underage sex trafficking sting www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...
Police in Bloomington, MN just announced that one of the guys they arrested in an underage sex trafficking sting was a **background checker for ICE agents.**

He had a high security clearance in the Trump administration... and he was caught trying to abuse children. Sickening.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

not training or managing them is a tactic.
this agency cannot be allowed to detain people without any recourse and then claim it is unable to manage the inevitable court cases to released them.
damage is being done to people. incompetence is not an excuse when the agency chose to detain them!
After Voss says that it's ICE's lawyer's who are responsible for for executing orders for release. Judge Blackwell then says "Well, should I call ICE's in-house counsel down here to answer for everything?" Voss then says, para., "I don't think this is a tactic, they're just not trained or managed."

When the president was calling all Somali immigrants "garbage" who "come from hell" and "contribute nothing" to America and therefore needed to go "back where they came from" did you ask him to "stop the rhetoric," Tom?
Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

There is nothing correct about deportations.
Immigration is good, and even if you disagree with that, the way to stop undocumented immigration is by penalize EMPLOYERS who profit by exploiting precarious people. Deportations are not only inhumane, ineffective and wrong.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“The Trump administration was entirely correct to prioritize deportations after the collapse of immigration enforcement under his predecessors,” our columnist Ross Douthat writes, but “misplaced priorities and excessive brutality have created a debacle.”

Is this really the only way to enforce the law?

Another pet peeve: Under Trump, the term "diplomat' has come to mean unqualified, ignorant hack.

It is like the way "patriot" has come to mean anti-American, pro-fascist bigot.

Orwellian double-speak is the official language of the Trump Administration.

Remember the Bundy insanity during the Obama years? Armed guys occupied a federal office and one of their buddies took position with a sniper rifle aimed at federal agents?

Exactly how many of those guys were shot and killed?

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Saying the officer who committed murder is a murderer is dangerous, but it's OK to claim that his victim was a domestic terrorist who literally ran him over.
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

Vance's stance is, almost literally, "Well, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that. She asked for it."
When Vance insists, contra the videos, that Good threatened the ICE agent and "had it coming", what he means is that he, like Ross, feels threatened by any woman who has the audacity to use her voice in the public sphere.

This deeply misogynist worldview is core to MAGA.

According to MAGA, Renee Good, just sitting in her car, is a domestic terrorist, but Kyle Rittenhouse, shooting strangers in the street with an assault weapon, is not.

These people are such shameless, twisted liars.

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

The fact that nothing is being done about this — and that people keep blithely hanging out on that site as though its owner and a key part of its official architecture aren’t actively enabling disgusting criminal abuse at scale — is making me lose my mind
Every piece of reporting I've seen on this is drastically understating the scale. These are from Grok's replies within a single minute. Time-to-reply is degrading because it has such a backlog of NCII/CSAM requests to fulfill. Conservatively I estimate it is producing more than 5000 of these per day

Trying to overturn a fair election in an attempted coup against his own government is the very definition of TREASON. We can never move forward until this is fully adjudicated. #ShameOnUS🇺🇸

It’s a public service, right there in the name. It exists as a public good for all the people in this country. It’s not supposed to turn a profit, you dolts.

Go audit the Pentagon and see what kind of return on investment we’re getting there.

Great. Next time I come across a Clinton rally, someone wearing a Clinton hat, or flying a Clinton flag on their truck, I’ll be sure to let them know.

The rest of us want them ALL held accountable because we aren’t in a cult. Hope that helps.

Remember how I said I have it written into my foreign-language contracts that my work has to be translated by an actual human? This shit is why.

Those book translations are gonna suck. They'll save money putting out books that are going to be painful to read. That's not a great long-term strategy.
French publishing house Harlequin decided to use AI translation instead of human translations.

All their freelance translators (some of whom had been working with Harlequin for +30y!!!) were told they would no longer receive work from Harlequin
