Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

With our big election win last week, and Trump's clear political and physical decline, Dems should be more ambitious now, and fight even harder, for the country and the American people. Voters saw us fighting for them & we were rewarded across the country 👇

Tonight was a huge win for democracy & a major blow to Trump's authoritarian rule

Voters chose Dem govs in VA & NJ, kept a Dem majority on PA’s top court, rejected an anti-voting measure in ME, chose an anti-Trump NYC mayor & are set to back fair maps in CA. Pro-democracy sweep.

THIS.

I've been saying this for many, many months.

This is a time for a new kind of politics.
We don't live in an Old World Two-Party system anymore.
"Reaching across the aisle" doesn't work so well.

It's fascism vs. democracy.
And you don't compromise with fascists.
I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

Hooray! I've written 30,000 words toward my next book, SNOWBLIND. It's the story of the doomed Brusilov/Albanov expedition of 1912. In honor of hitting my writing goal for October, here's an overhead drone photo of the boat from our 2021 Arctic expedition to Franz Josef Land for research.
