You should see what she’s accomplished in mathematics.

Dreamt that I had dropped out of college to try to track down the unambomber (and possibly to deflect from the possibility that I was the unabomber)

I love how the Black guy gets off the court as soon as possible and tries to keep his back to the camera to try to prevent anyone from identifying him.

Sorry, dude, I watched it twice. I saw your face.

This ruling flew under many radars given the big rulings on whether deployment itself was legal under Title 10. But it’s very impactful.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Voices from the Catholic Worker by Rosalie Ringler Troester is a good overview (although it’s 32 years old now and out of print). The Coffee with Catholic Workers podcast is pretty good for what’s happening more recently.

I had the good fortune to have known Chris Ponnet for 35 years and to consider him a friend. He was a model, not just for what a priest should be but what a human being should be. I truly would not be the man I am today had I never met him.

So what journal WERE you talking about?

In his defense, one could read the phrase ex-police reporter as either a former cop turned reporter or former reporter about things policial. The latter is perhaps better written as ex–police reporter than ex-police reporter. (A compound adjective forked from with a compound noun should, properly

OK, finally saw it and I was NOT annoyed by Leo’s presence in the film (and he finally no longer looks like he’s 14). Chase Infiniti (who plays the daughter) was definitely the breakout star of the film.

I’ve heard that the current issue of Gigantic Sequins is the final issue, but don’t see that indicated on their website or socials.

I somehow missed the part of the Jonah story where the king of Nineveh called for all the ANIMALS to be dressed in sack cloth.

See the thing is that there are people who think banning books and having wall-sized televisions are good things so when they read Bradbury’s story, they find it confusing.

Yeah, he’s an actor who, every time I see him on screen, I’m sure I’ve seen him in more roles than I have. His character, from what I’ve found from a few minutes googling the true story, is complete fiction.

was playing the male lead. LaKeith Stanfield, in contrast, was absolutely magnetic any time he was on screen.

I do feel like Channing Tatum is sort of generic attractive white guy. I’ve seen him in a few films before, but he doesn’t register with me (maybe even more so than Tom Hardy, who I’ve seen in a lot more movies but have no idea what he looks like) and only in the end credits did I have any idea who

along with the two actors who played her kids. There were a few gaping plot holes (you’d think this sort of thing would be impossible with a based on a true story film, and yet), but the overall story was well presented and I felt genuinely nervous as Jeff came closer to his inevitable fate.

My local movie theater does $6 Monday night mystery movies most weeks. This week, the surprise movie was Roofman, which was a charming enough film. I knew the broad outline of the story and I’d guess that was the case with at least some fraction of the audience. Kirsten Dunst was perfect in her role
