Three requests while you rest & rejuvenate & feast & football this week:

First, I don't have quite as much ability to look for public scholarship from the week for the upcoming #ScholarSunday thread, so please share anything you see--or anything of yours--if you get a chance, thanks! 🗃️

Lol
...I've just remembered my most random celebrity encounter.

Atlanta, Georgia, 1998, on a school trip where our ultimate destination was Bob Jones University. We saw Allen Iverson at a mall. One of my friends asked for an autograph.

He correctly identified us as "dumb crackers" and did not sign.
I’ve been on this app since July 2023 and it has always consistently and enthusiastically supported Allen Iverson in every endeavor he takes on, not sure which Bluesky you’ve been looking at.

Fun Fact: Before I became an executive search consultant, I was an immigration lawyer in Chicago. I represented Ozzie Guillen & his family in obtaining their U.S. citizenship the year the White Sox won the World Series. Here we are at the naturalization ceremony

Space photographer Andrew James McCarthy @ajamesmccarthy.bsky.social has captured many epic images of celestial bodies, but this may be his greatest: a perfectly timed photo of a skydiving friend with the sun behind him (shot w/ equipment revealing great solar detail).

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
