I wish I had the ability to be conscience in a way befitting of a site like this. And that I was capable of having a single thought that's not an amalgamation of five different barely connected thoughts bolted together by three more completely random tangents. Alas... I'm sorry
that's on us. There's libs out here going "take that you shitty leftists, clearly we were right and it worked" and that's infuriating, but the response is to point out everyone took a baby step towards what leftists activists have been doing for ages and that it's not that scary to take more steps.
to convert the libs to do more real shit at some point that's a personal failing. Marches move very little forward, but not every strategic manoeuvre is about moving forward. If there was nobody at the event trying to reach people, if we're not trying to build on the energy people feel right now
the question of "ok what's next? what's the point?" became one best asked of oneself. Like, yeah, none of it was planned to direct the energy towards anything better but if you believe branded walks with a mail list aren't the way forward... there's praxis to be done... if there's nobody trying
Like, it had no demands or aims, was plagued by teaching people the worst practices, and it's all clearly just a thing for the people organising it to capitalise on career wise later. However that's criticisms relevant in the planning phase. Once the march became a thing that was gonna happen
I think many people kinda got lost in the sauce failing to distinguish when criticism of the organisers of the event turned into criticising the people participating in it.

The only thing less useful than a political action you think is useless is complaining on the internet about that action.

For fuck's sake, just do the thing you want to do! The people you're complaining about won't be convinced by your posts, but they might be convinced by your effective actions.

Israel is not "testing" the ceasefire, they are breaking it, just like they always do.

The only thing Israel has been "testing", for decades, is the moral fucking decency of Western media and governments, proving quite thoroughly that they are the same genocidal racists they've always been.

The police didn't interfere with the No Kings marches but things are escalating at detention centers around the country because law enforcement is attacking peaceful protesters
So much tear gas & flash grenades tonight at ICE in Portland. US Gestapo came out, pushed people back & held a line as other feds shot down tear gas canisters from the roof. People were dancing before this as an impromptu rave broke out

i am so owned by the overton window shifting over to some of my personally held positions

please, please keep owning me, please I don't know if I'll be able to take it
every smug internet communist tweet about showing up to a No Kings protest with an abolish ICE shirt to scare the libs is getting completely mogged by the real-life winemoms showing up with slogans like "ICE will melt in hell"

I've yet to meet a "viewpoint diversity" advocate who went out of their way to hear Marxists, Anarchists, Feminists... Covid-conscious, anti-colonial / free Palestine, disability rights, neuro-diversity, etc accounts.

"Viewpoint diversity" is just a politically correct way to say "listen to Nazis."
They're welcome to be here, none of us are required to listen. If that frustrates them so much that they leave, that's their choice.

If they can't compete in the marketplace of ideas, that's not my problem at all. We don't need to artificially boost alt views just for viewpoint diversity.
This site would actually be better if it had more voices from across the political spectrum, and efforts to push out right wing accounts are only entrenching Twitter/X's dominant position in the political discourse.

its worth noting the shift in public consciousness because we're talking about billion dollar propaganda being counterracted by just, people having principles and a working moral fabric
Can report back from the Charlotte No Kings that "free Palestine" is now, if not the normie lib position, then at least fully accepted among the normie libs. Lots of signs and flags scattered about, no apparent drama at all.

LRT the number of times an exchange has gone like this

Me: [comment on American politics]

American 1: Stay in your lane, it's not your country, why do you care?

Me: Yknow I actually really wish I didn't have to know or care

American 2: Oh so you don't care about us? You want us to fucking die???

The genocide is not over. Ceasefire is not liberation. Keep giving. chuffed.org/project/help...

“Donations for mutual aid groups dropped by 50% since the ceasefire announcement. Most of the bombing stopped but the genocide continues and Palestinians in Gaza are in dire need of material support.”

very annoying part of the feds openly declaring anti-fascism to be anti-american is that so many people are trying to argue that it isn't instead of interrogating their patriotism about a country that self-identifies as fascist.

and/or when we see escalating waves of bans and rule tightening to make it ever more against the rules to be rude to the US federal govt accounts. many opportunities for this website's leadership team to debase themselves and crawl around on the dirt like worms

This is going to be very funny when the white house account starts repeatedly violating the TOS by posting violent threats and jay has to hurriedly invent some special politician exemption

You don't have to engage in actions that don't sit well with you, but never let some rando who bought themselves a high vis vest turn over another protester to the cops. A lot of the time I've just had them getting in my face for openly filming cops, saying I was escalating? Wdym??
I’ll tell you what — you don’t have to keep your hands in your pocket when you watch ‘peace police’ tackle a graffiti artist, or when you view someone grabbing a kid for yelling at a cop.

You and your friends can grab those MFers back. Their actions are violent. You can, and should, intervene.

General reminder:

It is less important to be able to recognize that someone is a fed or other bad actor infiltrating your movement

Than it is to be able to recognize the bad advice or suggestions that they provide.

oxford was going to open source what became the astrazeneca covid vaccine before the gates foundation pressured it to sell to pharma instead, bill gates has literally killed possibly many people by depriving them of vaccines for profit so this meme is making me a little insane lol
I hate how often I am forced to think about this meme

If I wanted to disrupt a protest, I'd start a rumor that the regime was going to send agitators to infilitrate the protest and act up.

Then I'd sit back and watch them all act like cops and turn on each other.

We go through this every 3 years and it works every time.
If you have no interest in putting in the work to actually build a different world that is better than the current one, at least have the decency to admit to yourself what it is you're fighting for and that it's an inherently conservative urge to protect your comfort in being able to dominate others
