Been helping the folks at CBS news think through admissions data in a post-sffa world. They collected the largest dataset so far of uni's fall 2024 enrollment by race (and standardized it). Caveat caveat caveat, the clearest trend is:

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond.

This article is good background (except that it bizarrely claims the university only became tax exempt in 1915. That’s when “tax exempt” status became available, but it was a nonprofit corp not paying a tax for most of its history before that)

Is there a resource to help with running multi-level models with rethinking::ulam() datasets have several thousand rows? The model fitting (even calling precis() ) takes forever. Do I need 1) a high-performance computer or 2) a different language? @rmcelreath.bsky.social #rstats

Does the rethinking 📦 in #rstats have a function for obtaining the E-BFMI value for a MCMC model built with rethinking::ulam? I get a warning message about low values for that measure but cannot seem to produce it with other functions in the package.
