Let us have done with this pardoning power. We have had enough of this. Pardoning! How inexpressibly base have been the uses made by this power—this beneficent power. It has been that with which a treacherous President has trafficked. He has made it the means of securing adherents to himself instead of securing allegiance to the government.

Been helping the folks at CBS news think through admissions data in a post-sffa world. They collected the largest dataset so far of uni's fall 2024 enrollment by race (and standardized it). Caveat caveat caveat, the clearest trend is:

This is a shockingly mistaken understanding of due process by Stephen Miller. It is likely this misunderstanding that is informing the President’s misunderstanding.

Backyard park has done it again, the first bird I saw when I opened my eyes this morning was this gorgeous Rose-breasted Grosbeak who was checking out my feeders.

This article is good background (except that it bizarrely claims the university only became tax exempt in 1915. That’s when “tax exempt” status became available, but it was a nonprofit corp not paying a tax for most of its history before that)

Does the rethinking 📦 in #rstats have a function for obtaining the E-BFMI value for a MCMC model built with rethinking::ulam? I get a warning message about low values for that measure but cannot seem to produce it with other functions in the package.
