❗❗❗ So... about that Executive Order on breaking down "data silos."

Turns out this year the Census Bureau couldn't get the data it needed from IRS or Medicare in time for the current population estimates.

This policy will cause more deaths of vulnerable Americans, like infants and the elderly. Also, it appears to be a violation of the Clean Air Act. This is incredibly foolish.

Subpoenaing the Fed chair in the middle of a political fight over interest rates is not normal. It’s intimidation. Jerome Powell says he won’t bend—but this sets a dangerous precedent for the independence that keeps inflation in check.

We visited Renee Good's memorial.

There, we met a group of Somali Minnesotans — who too have been viciously attacked for weeks — warmly hosting everyone.

Flowers & stuffed animals galore.
Neighbors continually offering sambusas & hand-warmers & water.
Grief. And belief.

Every single person who shows up this weekend makes it safer for the next person to stand up, too.

They can break a single person.
They cannot break us all.
Being in the streets is a signal to your neighbors that they’re not alone. It doesn’t need to be anything more than that.

Trump will not stop the march of fascism because people are marching. But maybe we can make our neighbors less afraid. Maybe we can give decent people hope as it all crumbles.
