Still pretty funny that not a single person in this administration can figure out how to change The White House's bsky handle to their official domain name

the ballroom will never be built and he’ll just pocket whatever money he collects because he is a grifter first and foremost
Trump raises the price of the ballroom to $350 million

(It changed from $200 million, then $300 million, now $350 million within the course of a few days)
Thank you Lucy Calkins and Jo Boeler =_=
apparently they tried to teach children to read by guessing the word instead of sounding it out, compounded this with the covid school years, and we lost a generation of readers. thus the inevitable pivot to video
Also worth saying Isaac's takes are fairly balanced and always try to incorporate both sides. The fact that he's calling this corrupt as it gets should raise alarm bells.

We need to have an honest conversation about how part of ChatGPT's increased use is because Google is now a terrible search engine
What Cuomo did to his accusers after they went public was horrifying. He smeared them, insulted them, and victim-blamed in every way possible.

Voters who choose to overlook this are part of the problem.
wow. zohran brought one of cuomo’s accusers, charlotte bennett, to the mayoral debate. he asked cuomo what he would say to his 13 accusers of sexual harassment. cuomo said it takes “a certain level of maturity to work in government” and that the cases were resolved anyway. fucking scum.

As devastating as Mamdani’s words here are, Cuomo’s reply is so much worse. “If you want to be in government, then you have to be serious and mature.” He’s suggesting that sexual harassment is just part of working in government, and “mature” women can handle it. Disgusting.
In the audience tonight is Charlotte Bennett, one of the 13 women that Andrew Cuomo is credibly alleged to have sexually harassed while they worked in his government.

She can't speak for herself because Cuomo's lawyers have hounded her.

So I confronted him.

Every online getting company has exactly the data they need to identify people with gambling problems, and the technology and know-how to maximally enable that problem. They also know exactly how to spot the rare skilled gamblers and ban them from playing. Zero economic value. It's basically theft.

On one day's notice, thousands of New Yorkers marched in NYC today for immigrants and against ICE.

The cases were “resolved” by Cuomo hounding Bennet for years, at taxpayer’s expense, including with a retaliatory defamation lawsuit that he filed *after* the attorney general found that he had sexually harassed her.

"Medical education demands resilience and ethical conduct, yet professionalism standards remain vague and inconsistently applied, disproportionately affecting learners from marginalized and disabled backgrounds."

The hidden cost of professionalism in medical training
A dismissed medical student exposes systemic inequities in academic institutions and calls for reform in how professionalism is defined, reviewed, and applied to marginalized and disabled trainees.

Agreed! And while I agree that these comments disproportionately target women, I feel the same regarding comments about Trump's appearance. We can and should be dragging their behavior rather than how they look.

Amazon doesn’t just control online shopping, using its power to squeeze competitors out. It also controls too much of the “grid” that powers the internet—which is why when they go down, so does half the internet.

No one company should control the internet.

Guess who was involved in updating the guidelines way back in 2017?

Anthony Fauci 👏
Fewer toddlers developed peanut allergies after guidelines recommended introducing peanut products in infancy, a large primary care registry study showed. 🥜⬇️
I think two things can be true here: 1. I'd never vote for Curtis Sliwa 2. If the entire GOP were more aligned with Sliwa then Trump, I'd be (less) stressed about the state of our democracy right now
An interesting about Sliwa is that he’s old guard Republican so he talks about supporting the working class a lot. He’s not a guy who has moved further and further right with the party over the years. So as much as he’s *not our guy* he ends up being more aligned with left values then MAGAs.

seems that RFK is clearing the path for his CDC to do tuskegee syphillis experiments as a matter of course. in other news, RFK is a genuine monster who relishes in the pain and suffering of those he feels he has control or dominion over
RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will “volunteer” for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.

As a reminder to everyone, a key part of the Bari Weiss origin story is her livetweeting editorial meetings.
In the institutions she critiques she treats leakers (including herself) as principled dissenters. In the institutions she controls, she expects loyal silence.
