I'm not a big fan of genai for artistic purposes, but HOLY COW was nano banana useful today for trying to reason through some of the design choices for our bathroom remodel. It was hard for us to visualize having a black tile wainscoting vs not and being able to "see" it helped a ton.

This is the stupidest fucking timeline this year.

I would just like to say to whomever poured three inches of concrete for the 2nd floor bathrooms in my house in 1956: we are not friends. I mean, you're almost certainly dead by now so that's axiomatic, but really, this is awful and it made the house start to sink and crack. Bogus idea.

unnngggggh. thank you, pittsburgh water and sewer authority, for providing one hell of an ice skating rink for me to injure myself falling on.

(yes, i've reported this to them already.)

This is a very nice snippet of the document when it comes to LLM-written text. (The thread here is good.) I agree emphatically (while having a lot of fun using LLMs to help code).

The Charlotin database shows how much LLM misuse has exploded.

These are the numbers of court decisions or orders covering AI misuse by legal professionals (I included attorneys and paralegals) in the U.S.

Obviously these lag behind actual misuse:

2023: 3
2024: 13
2025: 184
This behavior, where attorneys drafting responses to sanctions motions or show cause orders regarding LLM use and hallucinated cases, respond with more hallucinated cases, seems to be common.

That's more than flouting rules, that's outright self-destructive. Every time I see these . . .
Ok so, ideally, when you have been show caused for AI misuse, you would not then further misuse AI,

I love owning a 3d printer part 41. We're redoing the upstairs bathrooms because cast iron plumbing doesn't last as long as this house is old, so we've squished the four of us into one bathroom. Printed this little wall mount for two electric toothbrushes and now there's less sink chaos.

I hope the Block family reads this letter. They won't, but you might, and it's worth reading to help cement their legacy of destroying not just one paper - a paper that's been active for 238 years - but two of them, announced in the same month. They're vile opponents of an informed public.
I had to get it out of my system. My open letter to the Block family in light of today's news they are shutting down the storied Post-Gazette. I am just so very angry.

You're putting their safety at risk. Adults are getting off to them. Shady GenAI companies are making CSAM of them. You are not as private as you think you are. Stop relying on tech billionaires to protect your kids for you.

What actually happens...
Mom: I have some vaccine questions.
Me: Sure, lets talk about each one and why I want your baby to get them.

This is one of the stupidest and most self-destructive public health choices the US has ever made. It will cost us literally billions of dollars in increased care costs, force millions of children to have unnecessary infections (& some traumatic for parent & child hospitalizations), + deaths.
The CDC changed the universal vaccine schedule & no longer recommends

Rotavirus
Hepatitis A & B
Meningitis
Influenza
RSV

I’ve cared for previously healthy kids who died from RSV, influenza and meningitis.

We all are going to be caring for a lot more now.
