James Earl Jones might be the one here. Everything from Dr. Strangelove, Hunt for Red October, and Star Wars to The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, and Lion King.
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

SEC: keep grindin

Big Ten: the enemy speaks kindly & holds a knife

ACC: you can eat a lot of things that aren’t food
Thank you ACC for always being yourself

Never a doubt, of course. 😅

I give Quinn a lot of credit for going for two there. But phew, that was close.

Man I forgot that Virginia lost to NC State and it didn’t count as a conference game for… reasons.

The ACC is so stupid.
November 30, 2025 at 6:42 PM
If only there was something in Lane Kiffin’s history that would suggest he would behave like this.
I have a potentially hot take

I don't think you can prevent what we're seeing with Kiffin/LSU/Ole Miss with better contracts or tweaks to the calendar.

I think we need a sense of professional honor, and failing that, *shame*, to actually set standards of acceptable behavior for coaches and admins
November 30, 2025 at 6:12 PM
It just reminds me so much of Solich in 2003 or Pelini in 2014 at Nebraska. Both of which ended with underwhelming hires that were terrible culture fits.
They've been floating through anonymously with all of the Kiffin drama and the dominoes in the SEC, but it feels like the Penn State search could all wind up with a bunch of regret

The real reason why Miami is going to miss the playoffs while Duke has a shot is because these conferences ballooned to 18 teams.
November 30, 2025 at 5:17 AM
The committee would absolutely let Duke in ahead of Troy or the MWC champ.
What if UVA *and* James Madison lose?🤔
November 30, 2025 at 5:15 AM
I still can’t for the life of me figure out the five-way tie that ends up with the worst team in the bunch winning the tiebreaker.

Next year the ACC is going to default to CFP rankings.
November 30, 2025 at 5:10 AM
So I think the Top 7 teams in the latest CFP rankings are all locks to make the playoff now. Alabama, by virtue of already beating the team they’re playing next week, is probably a lock as well.

Two more teams get auto bids from conference championships outside the Top 10.
November 30, 2025 at 5:03 AM
This is pretty much exactly how the Big XII fucked over Baylor and TCU in 2014. Spent all season talking about “one true champion” and wussed out when the team that won the head to head had the weaker playoff resume so called them co-champs.
LMAO the ACC should 1000% be pushing this. Just don’t even acknowledge your actual conference champion. Miami is the representative
Now I want Duke to win and Miami to sneak in as an at large just to piss EVERYONE off
November 30, 2025 at 4:49 AM
I’ll believe it when I see it. It’ll be hard to justify 8-5 Duke over Tulane, North Texas, or James Madison. A lot easier if it’s Troy.
If Duke beats Virginia next weekend, there is a very real possibility of two Group of 5 champions making the CFP.
November 30, 2025 at 4:43 AM
I’ll grant that this is a more coherent argument than Alabama, who didn’t play anyone and didn’t lose to anyone in nonconference last season. But still the message is don’t lose 3 games. Especially if one of those games is against Florida. The sixth best team in your conference isn’t in.
More Sark stumping: "What message do you want to send to the head coaches and the athletic directors around the country? Do you want us not to schedule Ohio State? Because if we're 10-2 right now, this isn't even a discussion."
November 29, 2025 at 4:54 AM
So these teams are locks:
OSU, Indiana, A&M, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Ole Miss

You have at least two more auto bids from the ACC and the G5.

So spots 8-10 are the bubble spots. Bama and Texas have a very bad loss. Bama, Texas, and OU all have marquee wins. They aren’t leaving ND out.
November 29, 2025 at 4:34 AM
Unless something crazy happens a team outside the Top 10 is not making the playoffs. You can compare Texas to the 11-15 teams all you want but THOSE TEAMS ARE ALSO NOT GETTING AN AT LARGE BID.
November 29, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Oh good we’re gonna get two weeks of a three-loss team who lost to Florida arguing they deserve a playoff spot.
November 29, 2025 at 3:27 AM
I don’t think the expectations for Nebraska were especially high after Raiola got hurt but this is an especially embarrassing beatdown.
November 28, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Okay, positive thoughts: Is Hudson Greer the best true freshman at Creighton since the Nembhard/Alexander/Kaluma trio?
November 25, 2025 at 8:34 PM
This team is going to make McDermott retire before the season is done.
November 25, 2025 at 8:10 PM
Felix is an edge HOF case for sure but I can’t fathom the reasoning behind putting K-Rod on your ballot and not Felix. Or Andy Pettitte and not A-Rod since clearly HGH isn’t a dealbreaker.
Ballot #1 in the 2026 Hall of Fame voting cycle is from Jorge Morejón. Andruw Jones receives the first net gained vote of the cycle. Jones finished last year 8.8% shy of election. Morejón's column: www.martinoticias.com/a/opini%C3%B...

Just an incredibly frustrating performance from Creighton where you can sort of see the potential but every single time they piece something together they have like four empty possessions in a row.

Best first half was clearly Harper. Worst belongs to Ty Davis who committed 3 fouls in just two minutes of play. Owen Freeman and Nik Graves struggling a bit early but overall the Jays offense is humming against an overmatched North Dakota team. The defense? Not so much.
