Don’t forget that a decent amount of online political discourse is manufactured by bots purpose-built to start arguments.
Yeah man we should really fight back by staying on X

I can't get over how weird this photo is. I love that someone in England captioned it: "Darling, be a dear and DO click on the floor lamp."

For those who don't recall, the closest ship to the Titanic was The Californian. They did not respond to distress signals. The Carpathia did, from much further away. That captain was a hero.

This is so worth your time.
This one's maybe a little on the ling side, but trust me, it's worth it. I've cried reading it multiple times.

If this bill passes, revoking passports will be weaponized against political opponents, people who speak out against the regime, anyone who doesn’t cooperate w the gov regardless if the request is constitutional, or simply posting you don’t like someone. Government is terrorizing its own citizens.

This is false. For example, the libertarian @cato.org breaks down the numbers, showing about 6 deaths from right-wing politically motivated attackers for every 1 from left-wing attackers.
Moreover, the claim that shooters represent anyone other than an unhinged fraction of society is the deeper lie.

Naturally—because these guys are nightmare idiots—Schriver included a separate sweeping ban on depicting trans people or even people dressed in clothing not aligned with their “biological sex”, which nukes many classical Greek and Shakespeare plays and entire art forms like Chinese opera and kabuki.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Never ask a man his age, a woman her salary, or GPT-5 whether a seahorse emoji exists

No.

If I say "I want to build a Mars base!" That's "Wanting to build stuff?"

But if I say, "I want to end all fossil fuel cars by 2030!" That's holding back progress?
🙂🙃

"I want to build murder drones!" I'm a builder?

"I want to build enough housing to end homelessness this decade!" Leftist?
🙂🙃
There is a lot to hate about the politics of the silicon valley right, but they do actually want to build stuff, and I would prefer if the left didn't cede "we should be able to build stuff" to the right.

Huh. I don't remember the federal government asking me what flavor of "white" I am before. This list of what are I think meant to be ethnicities also seems really arbitrary, and doesn't map out onto ethnicities per se. (This is for an NSF annual personnel report for a graduate training program.)

Revlimid has its origin in a pill that cost patients $7.50 each. Decades later, the cancer drug costs more than $18,000 for a month’s supply — even though it still only costs about 25 cents to manufacture.

The Price of Remission: This Cancer Drug Saves Lives — but Costs a Fortune. I Wanted to Know Why.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked…

Watch every second of this.

Our worst fears are here. With Trump’s new bill, the police state is no longer looming—it’s official.

Expect more raids on a massive scale, shattered families, and a brutal crackdown on humanitarian protections.
