Our current state of capitalism is basically, “Here, we made this button. When you push the button, it makes things slightly easier for a certain subset of people who can afford it and greatly benefits those who made it. Just know, every time you use the button, someone dies.”

I cannot think of an image that more succinctly displays how much dems are in bed with fascism and it wasn't even a mean leftist parody. Newsome just did this of his own accord.

Tell me your secrets so I don’t constantly beat myself up and say, “Ugh. I know I could’ve done better!”

This is especially prevalent for work-related performance, despite everyone insisting I did great.

How do I effectively lower my own expectations and kill the perfectionist inside of me?

OpenAI Just Scrapped the Team Responsible for Keeping Its AI Safe and Aligned With Human Values
OpenAI has just gotten rid of the team that ensures its AI systems are safe for all users. The company disbanded an internal group focused on making sure its AI systems were “safe, trustworthy, and consistently aligned with human values.” At the same time, the team’s former leader has been reassigned as the company’s chief futurist. OpenAI confirmed to TechCrunch that the team’s members have been placed in other roles across the organization. The development was first reported by Platformer. The alignment team was formed in September 2024 as an internal unit dedicated to AI alignment, a field focused on ensuring advanced systems operate in line with human intent. That work includes preparing AI to handle adversarial conditions and high-stakes scenarios without harmful or catastrophic outcomes. “We want these systems to consistently follow human intent in complex, real-world scenarios and adversarial conditions, avoid catastrophic behavior, and remain controllable, auditable, and aligned with human values,” a post from OpenAI’s Alignment Research blog states. A related job posting described the team’s mission as “developing methodologies that enable AI to robustly follow human intent across a wide range of scenarios, including those that are adversarial or high-stakes.” In a blog post published on Wednesday, former alignment lead Josh Achiam outlined his new responsibilities. “My goal is to support OpenAI’s mission — to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity — by studying how the world will change in response to AI, AGI, and beyond,” Achiam wrote. According to the company, the restructuring reflects routine changes within a rapidly evolving organization.

Every bro that defends GenAI:

*Will never address stolen intellectual property, resource consumption, pollution, etc.*

“But what if it was completely different?”

“Imagine if it were regulated from the start.”

“What if it *was* ethical?”

“Consider the potential.”

“You’re misunderstanding me.”

Honest question: You don’t already think it’s wrong that it’s built on stolen IP, has caused waves of layoffs, spreads disinformation, has convinced people to perform suicide, requires tons of natural resources, and is a severe pollutant?

In exchange for using it as a “drafting tool”?

"Why can't we have a calm discussion about AI?"

Because folks don't actually want to discuss AI, they want blind submission to the ideological structures that motivate the contemporary use cases and deployments of AI. They don't want to hear the concerns except to dismiss them out of hand.

Every time Microsoft adds a GenAI feature to existing products, they’re effectively inserting new, and likely critical, vulnerabilities just waiting to be exploited.
Notepad was once a lightweight text editor in Windows, but Microsoft has increasingly been adding features to it in recent years. The new Markdown support has led to a Remote Code Execution flaw 😬 msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide...

Ways to tell you’re getting a spam call #263: The caller is spoofing their number to appear as though they’re in the city you’re originally from, but matched to the state you’re currently living in.

(For the record, this combination was technically a real city, but not one I’ve ever been to.)

Technology comes in 4 cyclical phases.

1. Early adoption by IT, LGBT, artists, furries, etc to escape the Torment Nexus.

2. Everyone follows for the content created by the early adopters.

3. Enshitification drives away early adopters to make it investor friendly.

4. It becomes the Torment Nexus.
