9th Circuit just made anti-SLAPP laws (like the good ones in California and Nevada) a lot less effective. This is going to lead to a ton of suppressed speech. Stupid and dangerous. Especially now.

We need a federal anti-SLAPP law now. And we won't get one.

Important discovery fight taking shape in Kilmar Abrego Garcia's criminal case.

The question: Can the government assert privilege to avoid handing over documents that may be relevant to a defendant's vindictive prosecution claim?

Abrego's counsel says no.

“The Founders would never believe that it would ever come to pass that one state militia could be sent to another state for the purposes of political retribution”

THAT PART!

Thank you, Judge Perry.

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

In all honesty, Epstein had gotten off once and could do it again. Dershowitz would defend him again, say that all the girls were sluts who asked for it, and half the country would believe Dershowitz and poor Epstein, and the girls would get death threats and have to change their names

The UK & France signed treaties to defend Poland AND. DID. THAT.

USSR signed Riga to guarantee Poland's borders, then didn't do it. They signed treaties with Hitler to give half of Poland to Hitler. THEN. DID. THAT.

Who declared war on Hitler first? *Before* he attacked their country? Answer that!
diogeneslamp.bsky.social
You're not dumb I guess, you know the UK & France signed treaties to defend Poland while the USSR signed treaties to give it to Hitler. You're just morally deranged

You can't "what about UK & France" when they signed treaties to defend Poland AND. DID. THAT.

USSR signed Riga, then betrayed Poland.

NYT adds to @juddlegum.bsky.social's reporting about the billionaires that Scott Bessent is bailing out by propping up Javier Milei.

www.nytimes.com/2025/10/09/u...
Those efforts have been complicated by the fact that major hedge funds, including those led by friends of Mr. Bessent, stand to benefit financially from an Argentina economic lifeline. Funds at investment firms including BlackRock, Fidelity and Pimco are heavily invested in Argentina, as are investors such as Stanley Druckenmiller and Robert Citrone, both of whom worked with Mr. Bessent when he was an investor for George Soros.

And then you just give a pass to Katyn, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Bessarabia, Bokuvina, the long list of Soviet atrocities unleashed within a year after Poland. Imagine trying to portray the Munich Agreement as worse than Poland, Finland etc

If you know about that, you're playing dumb.
diogeneslamp.bsky.social
*If* you don't know anything about this history you're dumb, or if you do know, then you're *playing* dumb. I'm not defending Munich signed by a conservative

You ARE defending Molotov, invasion, annexation, putting Poles in labor camps & murdering 10,000s

If it's so great, why'd they lie about it?

I just took a deep breath and deleted a skeet where I cussed out @padlet.com, but honestly, maybe I should have kept it. This was a great resource, and the folks behind this decision should be ashamed of themselves for what they have chosen to enable.
Padlet removes ‘People over Papers,’ a mapping tool tracking ICE raids
The crowdsourced site was taken down without warning, days after political figures called for its removal. Its creators quickly launched a replacement.
