If #NetZero is the simple but complex slogan to define the story of where we want to get to with #ClimateChange - where the carbon cycle is brought back into balance - what’s the equivalent story slogan for sustainability? #CircularEconomy? #NaturePositive? Or is it too complex to reduce like that?
Even if part of this happens rather than all of it, it will still suggest an epochal shift in the world order. What comes to mind is that Greenland could be America’s Suez. Britain never came back from that in the form in had previously held onto so tightly.

‘The U.S. economy, which relies on the dollar being the global reserve currency, will collapse. Inflation will make the post-COVID spikes look like a rounding error. Your savings will be worthless before the ink dries on the invasion orders.’
🌍🔥 The Suicide Pact: What Happens the Moment We Touch Greenland
If the United States follows through on the threat to invade Greenland, we need to be crystal clear about what happens the next morning.

Did you know that the PR agency for #COP30 also works for fossil fuel companies like Shell?

We made a meditation app to help them sleep at night.

“Uruguay did what most nations still call impossible: it built a power grid that runs almost entirely on renewables—at half the cost of fossil fuels. The physicist who led that transformation says the same playbook could work anywhere—if governments have the courage to change the rules.”
Uruguay’s Renewable Charge: A Small Nation, A Big Lesson For The World
Uruguay built a power grid that runs 99% on renewables—at half the cost of fossil fuels. Here’s how its bold energy overhaul became a global model.

What I’m trying to say is, if you’re for peace and democracy, then a solar panel is a valuable tool (and a valuable symbol, a peace sign for our age)."
International law won't constrain Trump's thirst for oil. But every solar panel that goes up makes crude reserves that much less valuable

A real privilege to get the final question in at last night’s fascinating conversation between @michaelemann.bsky.social and @edufuturist.bsky.social, and delighted that Michael’s parting advice aligned exactly with the work we are doing on climate & sustainability education at City St George’s.
How can we do climate change work in academia during the present crisis?

Just heard an AI ethicist talk about how important it is that we say ‘MEN are using Grok to undress images of babies, children and women’ not ‘Grok is….’. Grok isn’t responsible for the action, the men enabling & using it for this repulsive purpose are. Small but important bit of linguistic accuracy

Probably the most important factor about the risks to an American takeover of Greenland but the one thing that barely anyone seems to be talking about - keeping that big old ice sheet right where it is for as long as possible.
As everyone talks about Greenland, don't forget its actual global significance--a two mile thick sheet of ice that if melted would raise the sea level 23 feet (and long before that choke off the currents of the Atlantic)

Unhook ourselves from oil and gas and we unhook ourselves from dependency on dictators, autocrats and expansionist regimes all over the planet.
Renewables and other low-carbon energy sources are not just good climate sense. They are also good political sense.
