If #NetZero is the simple but complex slogan to define the story of where we want to get to with #ClimateChange - where the carbon cycle is brought back into balance - what’s the equivalent story slogan for sustainability? #CircularEconomy? #NaturePositive? Or is it too complex to reduce like that?

This week, I’ve had the pleasure of being on the assessment panel for 2026’s London Student Sustainability Conference. With the darkening talk I often hear from older generations about the pace of addressing the climate crisis, there’s a younger generation rolling up their sleeves. So impressed.

Listening to the remastered Beatles Anthology Collection. Amazed at the sound quality already from just The Quarrymen covering ‘That’ll Be The Day’ in what must have been something like 1960. Doesn’t sound like a home recording on an old Grundig tape recording.

I could see a world where what is or isn’t in the UK November Budget gets pretty quickly forgotten when overtaken by events.
Personally, would rather be fretting over the personal minutiae of tax policy than the impact of a major economic crash, but maybe that’s just me…?

I’ve finally figured out the thing that I thought was always missing about Scott Bessent. He’s not wearing a monocle when he looks down his nose at the camera. Feels like he should do, to round out the caricature.

Watched Olusoga’s remarkable BBC series ‘Empire’ this weekend. Too accustomed to the history to be shocked, but still learned things. Very much recommended.
