I just want to laugh with y’all.
@kaine.senate.gov out here selling the family’s cow—not just for magicians—but for the mere *promise* of a handful of magic beans. It makes you look like an idiot.
The Senate on Sunday took the first step toward ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, after a group of Democrats broke from their party and voted with Republicans to advance legislation to reopen the government. Here's what to know: nyti.ms/4oxaeHb

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him

And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

Governor-elect Sherrill is correct, @kaine.senate.gov. Please don’t cave. What good is the *promise* of a vote in this political environment?

Imagine, if you will, this headline with the word “Jews” substituted for the word “women”:

“Did Jews Ruin the Workplace?”

Disgusting, right?

Well, it’s just as disgusting that this is an acceptable question to debate about women.

The misogyny is staggering — and so normal.

Still.

Surprised this guy knew anything about last night’s elections. He’s normally much slower on the uptake.

Along with everything else, Trump admitting the shutdown led to a bloodbath for Republicans should at an absolute minimum lead Dem Senators to shelve their apparent plan to prematurely cave. He's admitting he and the GOP are in a weak position, Dems. Exploit that!
Trump to Republican senators: "I thought we'd have a discussion after the press leaves about what last night represented and what we should do about it and also about the shutdown and how that relates to last night. If you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor, negative for Republicans."

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

Trump just showed his hand and came up with half the money for SNAP. The other half is there. Don't fold. You're gonna get fucked. AGAIN. Anyone who votes to reopen the government now, as the administration is coming apart and eating shit in the press and in the polls is trying to save Trump
This is pathetic - to give in over "a promised vote" - but this is what they were always going to do.

"A handful of Democrats will supply some eight votes for a new short-term CR in exchange for a promised vote on the ACA tax credits."

They are gonna trust the GOP.🤡
