For the last seven months, Chris and I have worked on creating a limited series to tackle the topic of dark skies and light pollution, and why you should care about it.

We couldn’t be prouder. The first episode is now out on all your favourite podcast apps

Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) is breaking apart — and some of you caught it live. After passing 0.3 AU from the Sun, it erupted, and three days later a third appeared.

K1 is now officially in pieces.

As harrowing as this, it felt like a relief to read it. The commentariat's refusal to grapple with what climate change will do to us, if we don't phase out fossil fuels, has been driving me insane.

This should help break the collective amnesia.

1) good, they should be prosecuted, they are responsible for countless deaths

2) always very funny when these people realize the extent to which their billionaire patrons could not possibly give less of a shit about them

Part of me wonders why Musk would allow something like this that reveals the scale of bots and sock-puppeting on X, but then I remembered there is literally nothing that could ever actually stop people volunteering their time, effort and money to help him out and prop up X's ad revenue and influence
the last 24 hours on X, summed up:

Whoa it's almost like this entire cultural movement is based on fake bullshit at every level and our leaders should stop letting fucking social media dictate policy
Twitter had to turn off its location feature within hours because thousands of prominent and "verified" MAGA accounts turned out to be foreign and I think it's hilarious that Elon was the one who exposed them all

They're also responsible for one of the best emails I've ever received, when the college office sent out a plea for sightings of Professor Biscuit while conveniently forgetting to mention that he was a cat...(I won't comment on how often a similar email might have gone out about human Professors...)

As @doctorvive.bsky.social has pointed out a quadrillion times, it such a moment of significant and extreme alarm that fossi lfuel industry talking points are being shamelessly and bluntly repeated by people like this

Very, very, very grim
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

everyone correctly noting that any time you put Trump in a room with someone charismatic he becomes extremely complimentary until someone reminds him he hates that person, take a bow

he’ll be posting unhinged shit about Zohran again by tomorrow
Trump on Mamdani: "I think he's gonna surprise some conservative people, actually. And some very liberal people he won't surprise because they already like him."

Shorter story, per fawning Telegraph article depicting them as victims: they start off by demonising trans people, then they move on to be pro-Trump, attack migrants, pro-genocide of Palestinians, ‘Nigel Farage is “too soft” on multiculturalism’, and so on.

No way I’m sharing Stock’s UnHerd article. But I am going to point to this bit which amply demonstrates the anti-trans=>anti-women’s rights pipeline. “Abortions should only be done for a highly restricted set of reasons. They should not be just nodded through for any reason a pregnant woman likes.”

Labour will not chase our votes as they were happier to lose than have a left wing Labour in power in 2019, except the Labour right have alienated far more actual voters this time
just like they're doing to get the reform votes, if Labour see enough shift towards another party getting votes, they'll chase them

'others' never really get anywhere, they just pull the 2/3 main ones in their direction if they poll well enough

I'm not happy about that but seems to be how it works

I am a cis woman.

My hair is short.

I don't wear skirts or heels.

My son is more likely to wear makeup and jewellery than I am.

Looking forward to being denied services due to my "appearance" because of the transphobia of a few vocal hate-filled bigots who dare to call themselves feminists!
Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.
