Since 1995, Madrid's Metro has added 107mi (172km)

Since 1987, Boston's MBTA has added 4.3mi (6.9km)

Boston's system has 39.5mi of heavy rail and 26.7mi of light rail. Madrid has 184.3mi of heavy rail and 17.3mi of light rail - 3x more!

I wonder what it's like living in a functional society 🤔
It would take 2 hours and 20 minutes to travel between Boston and Washington, D.C. at this speed.

This country is so behind, it's laughable.

new video shows Kit Kat did not “dart underneath” the vehicle as waymo originally claimed. he was sitting under the car in front of the right wheel before it just ran him over. someone even approached the vehicle to try and get him to move seconds before it happened. missionlocal.org/2025/12/sf-w...

Pretty weird how this exact same thing keeps happening
Investigators say former coach Sean Gardner created videos showing close-up images of at least 10 minors naked or undressing, which they recovered from his computers last year while investigating reports of sexual abuse.

Gardner has pleaded not guilty and has been jailed pending trial.

IMO not enough scrutiny directed at VF's Mark Guiducci, who hired Nuzzi. The RFK affair was disqualifying on its own ofc, but the fact that it happened (it's RFK Jr!) was an obvious sign more ethical lapses + embarrassing stuff was floating around. Reflects poorly on an EIC to not anticipate as much

yeah see, Larry Ellison is pressuring Trump to intervene in the Netflix Warner Brothers acquisition.

And seeding the idea in friendly right wing media that the Netflix acquisition is an antitrust concern, but it's of no worry if instead, the planet's second richest man owns the entirety of media

A ridiculous coda to this story: A USTA source tells me that Trump wanted to hand out the trophy to the winner of the US Open men's final but the organizers said no and compromised by displaying the trophy on the balcony of the Rolex suite where he was sitting.
NEW — I wrote about attending the US Open with Trump in attendance, and what the tepid reaction to a fascist at a sporting event says about this country.
Why I had to see Trump at the US Open with my own eyes
Staring straight across the court at a fascist is bad for the soul, but certainly instructive.

and as an owner of the only shares that currently matter in his company, no one can ever get rid of him until he wants to leave. feel like zuck's arrangement caused a run on such arrangements in start-ups in the future and a desire for that kind of power from everyone else in his class.

I would wager you'll see something similar here in a week or two; probably starting with FCC Brendan Carr announcing he's opening an inquiry into certain "bidding irregularities" and talking about Netflix ownership being "against the public interest"

I would be surprised if you don't see some performative "antitrust" action by Trump's FCC and DOJ to try and redirect Warner Brothers to Larry Ellison and CBS/Paramount

The streaming giant's proposal includes a $5.8 billion breakup fee and promises to maintain Warner Bros. current operations, "including theatrical releases." Theater owners are already speaking out.

As you can guess: this is not a failure for hydrogen in any sense of the word. The goal was not to use hydrogen in gas grids, it was to offer a cynically fabricated promise of a solution to allow for more time to kill regulations and fight electrification.

And it absolutely worked:
