Back again cuz I heard an album that commanded my attention and demanded to be talked about! Chicago singer and producer keiyaA has dropped a phenomenal record in hooke's law, a vulnerable and forward-thinking work. "devotions" is arresting and has stayed on my mind, so I wrote about it. Read on.

If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.

it's really good that Oracle bought TikTok, a business that only loses money, at a time when it took on $56bn+ in debt and $240bn in lease obligations for GPUs to rent to OpenAI, a company that will run out of money. This could all have the funniest ending ever

First mile to get from NE to Petworth. Second mile brought me to the heart of Columbia Heights, and I felt GOOD, buddy.

The runner's high turned to runner's delirium 4.5 miles in as I got to upper NW and it was just going uphill the last 1.5 miles.

Brain empty, legs are stones but I DID IT THO
Tired as shit but the app is telling me I gotta run 6 miles today

For folks not in DC, Malcolm X Park is a huge gathering space for people in the middle of the city west of the river.

We’ve hosted community events there, stop the bleed trainings, Narcan trainings. They’re deploying the military to a vibrant community space.
Heads up: The National Guard will patrol Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park 24/7 "for the foreseeable future," per an email from the superintendent of Rock Creek Park. The request came from U.S. Park Police, which traditionally patrols the park, due to "high levels of incidents."

This is one of the most lively public spaces in DC so of course they're going to attempt to kill that.

I haven't heard this one in a minute, but it's still a wonderful, hard-hitting listen. And RIP to producer E.O.M., we used to chop it up on the bird app back in the day and he was always a cool and funny dude. 🎧

Non Black people should never use the word woke
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The grimness of US history should encourage us. Yes, people used to send lynching postcards. And other people saw that, worked towards building a more just society anyway, and succeeded beyond anyone's wildest imagination. There's more work to be done. What's our excuse for choosing despair instead?
I understand and appreciate the fact that for some it is genuinely uncomfortable and distracting to think about how grim US history is. yes, that is strategically relevant, and no, I wouldn't put "did you know people used to send lynching photos to each other as postcards?" on a recruitment flyer
