looking back going to raves in the late 90s and hip hop shows in the early aughts, i cannot believe what i was witness to and didn’t even know it .
My only Gen X lead hosewater take is that the 90s was absolutely peak living for rave and hip hop fans. The parties were unbelievable, still lots of DIY shit going on in both universes so you'd have like Oakenfold show up at some warehouse party or Ghostface doing a quick cameo at some block party
First time I heard this I was at the old 1415 club in Philly. The dark dingy hot box that was pitch black and only had strobe lights. Fucking kicked ass, the city was awash in the good Mitsu ecstacy pills back then

earnest posting: both my parents are 1/7 kids raised in south buffalo in the 60s and not only are almost all my blood relatives kind, sweet progressive people but they ended up with partners that way too. its almost shocking how that was even possible.
