💯 When Lander was my councilman I saw him all over the neighborhood.

On the other hand Goldman refuses to engage with constituents, gatekeeps public events to prevent dissent, and rarely even sends a form email acknowledging multiple calls and voicemails I've personally left with his office.
I've probably photographed Brad Lander more than any other elected in NYC because the dude shows up. He's everywhere, he's incredibly accessible, and he genuinely loves New Yorkers. You can literally go up and talk to him whenever he shows up. Go ahead, try it!

(I have NEVER seen Goldman ANYWHERE.)

YESSSSSSSSSS!!! So excited to vote for @bradlander.bsky.social again (this time for Congress)!
I’m running for Congress because we need leaders who will fight, not fold. I recognize this moment, and I’m ready to meet it. #FightDontFold #LanderForNYC #LanderForCongress

One way to think of the Trump Admin is as having SHIFTED the $$ we used to spend on curing cancer (and providing care to Veterans and protecting nature and etc) to snatching brown people off the streets.

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

Trans women has been welcomed at the Women's Institute since the 1970s and one member is in her 80's and has been a member for decades. This is pure bigotry pushed by legal threats backed monetarily by JK Rowling.

TBH, I feel like everyone should have the option of these types of accomodations. Let folks use whatever concentration tools necessary and take the time they need to demonstrate their learning.
These debates about accommodations for autistic and ADHD people always seem predicated on the false idea there is some generous but zero-sum basket of resources.

There isn’t.

We’re usually talking about things like extra time, instruction clarification, wearing headphones, or using fidget tools.

They're not hiding it, folks—straight up neo-Nazi advertising, from the font to the language to the 11 stars for the Confederacy. Then you have the DHS openly using white nationalist language of "remigrate", which means ethnic cleansing.

This is who MAGA is now.

Not a single major news outlet has covered this story. There is such a blatant, obvious attempt to suppress any and all news that deals with the actual facts about transgender life and experience. As the government rolls back our rights on an unprecedented scale, we have been left out to dry.
"[G]ender-affirming care saves lives."

"Suicidality scores among the [study's] patients who provided responses dropped by over 67 percent."

"[O]f the hundreds of patients who started hormone therapy, only seven discontinued their treatment."

Someone is going to have the write the thing about how “vibe” has become a substitute for meaningful theory in a world where the theory is so clear — grift and power — but we collectively refuse if because it isn’t sophisticated enough to generate make work for empiricists.

The only truly irreversible thing a trans child is likely to do is take their own life. "What if they do something irreversible?" actually means "theyre not allowed to make a decision!"

You cant undo or reverse any decision you make, you can simply change your mind later and handle the consequences

Nothing in the research supports these invasive requirements. Do you know what does have a ton of evidence supporting it?? Gender affirming care, where we trust young people and support their bodily autonomy!
Under new NHS puberty blocker trial protocols, trans youth are being subjected to more than 50 assessments, intrusive exams, and over 13 hours of intrusive testing - just to access lifesaving healthcare

It demands young people re-live distress & undergo intimate examinations

this would assume those folks had good political instincts. Say all the terrible things you want about the fascist in chief and you'll be right but he has good political instincts.
The weird thing is with Donald Trump just said about Zohran Mandani is what every Democrat should’ve said about Zohran Mamdani the moment he secured the Democratic nomination.

💀💀💀

These clips are absolutely wild.
Reporter: Are you affirming that you think the president is a fascist?

Mamdani: I've spoken about --

Trump: Just say yes, it's easier than explaining.

I am so excited for the possibility of Brad Lander representing me (again! he was a wonderful City Councilman for years), instead of genocide denier Dan Goldman. So hopeful that this happens.
The looming question will be how Zohran handles it if / when Brad Lander & the WFP primary Dan Goldman.
- Goldman never endorsed Zohran
- Zohran owes Lander and the WFP big time
- Lander is already polling ahead
- But the ADL will flip out because Goldman is one of the most Pro Israel congressmen
I’ve been trying to follow, as an outsider, the substantive discussion about Chi Ossé‘s candidacy beyond the NYT “let’s get them to fight” gossip and I understand why people are concerned about his run and also see why people are excited
1. Not great that he JUST joined DSA

I would like to share something.

A year ago, Trump won and I was furious and scared so I sent a text to a few of local women I knew and asked them to join me at a meeting and invite like-minded women they knew. A few showed up, then a few more. We became a group called The Salon and we meet monthly

A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9
